Opening Downloads/Attachments

in Techie Stuff
I'm having problems opening attachments from emails and downloads on my Vista laptop. It's trying to open them with Works instead of Word. It's a recent problem and Excel attachments open correctly. Have I accidently changed a setting or something?

I assume you're just having problems opening word documents then? Browse to your documents, right click a Word document and select "Open With" from the list.
Word should appear in a list then, if it does select it and check the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file". Then clock "ok" at the bottom and hopefully this should remedy it for you.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
I managed to find a setting in the default programs that I think has fixed it.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
