Oldie needs suggestions for Nintendo DS games

A few weeks ago I was given a Nintendo DS Lite for my 57th birthday, along with the Brain Training program. (Just trying to make the most of what's left up there
)
I'd like to try some different software, but I'm uncertain what to go for. I'm not particularly keen on "Shoot-em-ups" or games which are obviously aimed at a young audience, so can anyone of a similar age recommend anything which I might enjoy?
While on the subject of Brain Training, does anyone know whether it has been independently proven to do any good? My times and brain age have improved since I started, but I suspect that a lot of that is due to becoming familiar with the exercises.

I have one and I'm 68, but I found I was getting headaches, so it is currently not being used. I think it was the rapid eye movement that was responsible.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Thanks for your replies.
I've looked up the games you suggested above and think I might start with the 42 classic games. May bring back memories of my early days of computing - wasting a load of time playing Mah Jongg solitaire and Backgammon."The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0 -
I like Sight Training, although like BrainTraining the exercises are a bit repetitive. I also find the games based on tv programmes quite amusing to pass the time away on journeys - we have Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Deal or No Deal.0

I like Big brain academy more than brain training, and if you can still get a tetris game I would say it's still my favourite!0

Dont know if you like wordgames but I love Scrabble on the DS. You can play against the computer and the opponents get progressively harder. Im trying to beat the last one at the moment and she is impossible!!!0

My 75 year old Nan loves the Sudoku, Scrabble and Catz. She'd love a pet in real life, but is worried it will die (??), so she has the next best thing, a virtual one!!
And no, she's not potty (well, just a bit!!).
My children (her great grandchildren) have to explain to her how to play a new game, but once she gets going, there's no stopping her!0 -
Super Monkey Ball is quite fun, lots of "mini" games golf....I love, bowling,ect0
