I'm trying to connect my xbox to my internet connection and I think i might need a router but thought I better check before i fork out.I have cable broadband to my modem then an ethernet cable connecting to my pc,so If i want to go on xbox live i think i have to disconnect my pc and connect the xbox and vice versa if I wanna go online on the pc again.Never even seen a router before cos I've never needed one but am i correct in thinking this device would solve my little problem here?i.e. split my connection between the two devices?
thanks,James.

Yep,
you'll need the router and a network cable for connecting between xbox 360 and router..0 -

you would need a router indeed
because i beleive the sacm would still be trying to provide connectivity to your pc's nic,
theres some on ebay m8 for 9.99 plus 4.99 shipping only a cheapo chinese brand probs conexant based,
but just for xbox360 and 1 pc would do the job fine

SImplest solution is to buy a network switch (mine's a netgear) which are inexpensive.
Then simply connect your PC ethernet cable to the switch box. Connect another ethernet cable between your switch box and your router. And then a final ethernet cable between your xbox and switch box.
The netgear switch will then sort all your network traffic automatically.
This has worked flawlessly for me.

The wireless option sounds expensive to me as the xbox360 wireless gadget alone is about 70 quid.
Anyone know of a cheap solution to make my 360 wireless then I may use that wireless router I bought from BT for a tenner last month.
