Section 75 refunds - article discussion

We made the mistake of ordering a kitchen through a "well known" national company. After over 9 mths we are still without the remaining items. We are considering a partial Section 75 claim for a portion of the amount. Is this a possibility? We have had additional costs incurred, and over 9 months without a fully-functioning kitchen. I am aware that compensation offered will be derisory. Is our only option going to be small claims? If so then we will get started on that. Deposit paid on CC, total cost within the S75 limits, balance on 12mths interest free credit (which started on original delivery so we need that changing as well).0

The article says there is no s75 cover when
"buying through a travel agent, where it is simply directing you to get a flight from an airline or a package holiday from a tour operator."
What if payment is taken at the travel company website and you are not redirected to an airline site?
Would that be covered?
Edit. It's a United States based cruise deals website.0 -
rubbish service from JLP Card Services. Submitted a Sect 75 claim 5 weeks ago and yet to get an acknowledgement, let alone a refund. JLP useless at helping me resolve. So much for their much-vaunted service...Phoned card services and they can't get through internally. Gave me a direct line - can't even get engaged on it.
Called card services again - they're blaming Manarch Airlines traffic...
Called JLP themselves - promised to help escalate, but the card services STILL won't call me. Contacted JLP M/D, Paula Nickolds, and got a call from an executive customer relations manager, who said I would definitely hear by last Friday. Nothing.
Called again today, same old story with a twist. "they very busy, and the weather hasn't helped". Have we been snowbound for 5 weeks? Didn't notice... he's promised to get me a call tomorrow morning. Don't believe it.
alled JLP Head Office, asked for Ms Nickolds office, spoke to one of their senior customer service people. Got yet another promise to get me a response tomorrow.
never mind responses, updates, etc - WHERE'S MY BL88DY MONEY?0 -
what you have to do to get a solution....had a call earlier today from card Services (still not the Chargeback team!) asking for a few more details. Which they had already been given, if they'd read my earlier mail. Have been promised a chargeback this week, but subject to the suppliers bank not querying it in 45 days. So despite having NO furniture, it having been collected Nov 3rd, and having paid IN FULL (!) in October, my chargeback is still not totally completed. Dangers of a partnership card, rather than dealing with a card provider.0

Chargeback and Section 75 are two different things. This thread is for Section 75 although i can't see what advice you're wanting ? Are you just wanting to vent ?0 -
Hi
We recently bought a set of nested tables, a coffee table and a dining room table from now-defunct Multiyork. We paid our deposit on our Tescobank Credit card and took out a 0% interest agreememt via Barclays finance.
We took the nested tables with us on the day, and received the coffee table some time later. We haven't received the dining room table, although they did attempt to deliver it once and we refused delivery as it was damaged.
The total was around £1800. Our deposit was £533 and the first payment of £51 has gone through to Barclays (total paid out so far is £584.) The value of the goods we have received is £728, so we owe £143 on the goods we've received.
When we heard that Multiyork were in administration we contacted Barclays to cancel the agreement, but they stated they couldn't cancel it and we would have to continue to pay.
Because we didn't want an expensive table with no after-sales service or comeback (remember one was already delivered damaged,) and no availability of matching items in the future, we cancelled the order with Multiyork.
A section 75 claim on our Tesco card against Barclays finance seems the thing to do, from what I've read, but the fact that we still owe some money and cancelled the order complicates matters.
Should we continue to pay Barclays Finance for the time being? What about after we've covered the goods we've received? I don't want to harm my credit rating by defaulting on payments to Barclays Finance.0 -
Hello, I would like to ask for advise. I had booked a hotel (using booking.com) with non-refundable policy with debit Visa card. Unfornately my grandfather died a few days before the trip. The hotel denied refund no matter of the reasons. Can I do something using the section 75?0

No, for two reasons.
1. S75 does not apply to credit cards.
2. S75 is not an insurance policy.0 -
Hi,
I bought a phone for my wife on a Santander Credit Card April 2016. This phone has now gone faulty with a boot loop issue - as this is a known issue on this model phone LG has extended the warranty on this phone so I sent it in for repair. LG has declined a warranty repair as they found evidence of "Foreign Contaminant Ingress" on the mainboard and said that they will not repair as a result. This phone was bought new and factory sealed and has been in a case most of the time and has never been dropped or exposed to water. Speaking to LG they said that Foreign Contaminant Ingress can occur through normal wear and tear but will still invalidate the warranty.
I called Santander and they said I am not covered by Section 75 as I purchased the phone for someone else's benefit and not mine? This is despite the fact that my wife is a named secondary user on the credit card - they advised that because it was purchased using my card number and not her secondary card number it would not be covered under section 75.
Does anyone know if the above is correct or are they trying to get out of it?
TIA,
Jamie Tomlinson0
