Here is one for the experts re s75
I pay a builder £100 deposit on a CC for an extension he does for me. A year later fault are found on the build amounting to £30k. Can I use s75 to cover the faults, should he go bust?
If so, and if the build costs £150k in total, could I in theory use 5 CCs, paying £500 in total, to get full protection from s75 for the entire cost of the extension?
S75 has a £30,000 limit, multiple cards make no difference, so your £150,000 original cost means no S75 claim/protecion.

Hoping someone can give me some pointers. I bought a water filter machine for £1000 under a 60 day money back guarantee and decided to return it. I sent it special delivery, fully insured, for £30 to the address given but it has been sitting at the local post office awaiting collection since 18th November and will be returned to me if not collected by Monday. I cannot reach anyone on the phone and email conversations stating that it is "being sorted" have got me nowhere. I do have all the emails etc giving me the return address. My question is - if the machine is returned to me so I am unable to enforce the guarantee, would my credit card company be likely to help?
Thanks in advance0 -
In January I had a turbo on my car replaced as it had blown. This was a reconditioned turbo that came with 12 months warranty.
The replacement blew in August and the garage replaced it under warranty.
It has now blown again and the garage are saying that the manufacturer is no longer giving a warranty with the turbo as they have so many issues. The garage are implying they will only cover the labour.
I'm clearly going to argue this with them as a 12 month warranty means just that in my eyes.
My question is if this gets difficult can I just refer it to Section 75 for a refund?0 -

I would imagine, though, that the credit card company would want the machine returned to the seller. I certainly doubt that they would want you to send it back to them themselves and doubt that they would be happy with you keeping it, either.
So to some extent you may be stuck with the same problem of how to get it back to the seller.
Presumably by now you have it back again?
Have you contacted the seller to say this?
What have they said?
If it were me I'd argue that you've done your best and that you expect a full refund now and that the item is available for them to arrange a courier to collect it from you at a mutually convenient time. They might not go for this plan, though. Likewise the credit card company might not go for this plan. But it is a starting point.0 -

Also the name of the credit account and the name on the invoice should be the same - if they aren't you may not be able to make a valid claim. This is known as the creditor-debtor-supplier link and is a technicality sometimes used to reject a claim.
Your credit provider will ask for evidence that the item has failed - if you can get the garage to give this to you in writing (or a copy of what the manufacturer said) then that should suffice and this could make it quicker.
Best to work with the credit provider to resolve it because the Ombudsman will take up to a year to look at the case and in my experience they're not very switched on...0 -
I put in a Section 75 claim. I am main cardholder, husband is secondary card holder. Purchase was an airline ticket for hubby. Hubby not allowed on the flight as EasyJet misinformed him about visas.
Capital 1 are refusing to pursue section 75 as the service purchased was for my husband, not me.
Feels like a load of flannel, especially as hubby is the secondary card holder.
Should I pursue?Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Dear All,
I bought this second hand car from a trader on the 21 of Nov 2015, It was delivered at home address by him as I hold provisional driving licence, he sold me the car for £1250 ( i paid £1000 by online transfer and £250 by credit card).
When I started my driving classes, I had noticed that the breaks are really bad and I took the car to quickfit for a winter check and they advised the cars has loads of problem such as
1) worn out disc
2) worn out tyres
3) poor battary
And the total cost to fix it would be around £550.
Can you please advice what I can do ?0 -

Take it back to the trader and tell him you want a refund as the car is faulty.
The new CRA that came into effect on 01st Otober gives you the right for a full refund within 30 days for faulty products without hesitation.
You can do a S75 as well or jointly, (you don't get 2 refunds).
