Thanks for all the replies...I think I'll watch the news for a couple of days and make a decision at weekend.
First attempt at stoozing so had no BT fee to pay, so have done ok out of it so far this past year. I reackon about £230 interest so far, so don't want to be greedy! Suffered from that in the past with shares and ended up losing out big time.'1% at a time' Member - #197

That would seem to be the ultimate irony, to borrow money on a card, pay a fee to do so, the lodge the money with a bank that went pop, nt only would you lose the money, you would lose the fee too.
ICICI may be safe in India, but bet your socks, the UK operation will be the first to take a hit.
I think you've missed the point. The original question talked about a situation where it would take time to get your money back from the bank when it had gone bust - and all the time having to pay interest to the CC company. It would seem a more sensible to swap this back onto 0% and have longer to make the payments while you try to recover the original money. You would probably end up paying more in interest if you didn't swap than you would pay for the balance transfer.MFiT - Take2 member #126: Mtge at start (12/12/09) £60,000, Target (12/12/12) £6,000.
