Give the guy a break . Do you think he isn't on the case? The situation is changing by the minute, he doesn't want to do a Peston and post before all the facts are clear.0

He's HERE just a few threads under yours, having written his message late last night.MFW #185

Give him a chance!!!! He's been at the GMTV studios earlier this morning and is no doubt incredibly busy gathering FACTS before he can make any further announcements on here or elsewhere “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

It's not Martin who should be reassuring people, it's our Govt.0

1. We are protected up to 50k via the FSCS
2. This may be slow to adminster because this is run by the treasury (buffoons at the government)
3. We might also lose the interest which is the whole point in putting the money away in the first place
So therefore if one can pre-empt a bank going under it would be wise to move out to save the hassle of the above?
And where to that is paying a good rate but is safe?

I'm right here... on the phones... digging
. There's a note going in the forum in a minute to direct the right info. We are constantly updating the Are your savings safe guide and at 7am this morning I added an icelandic section.
That is our primary place for explanations and the weekly e-mail - so I will be putting things in there not here.

"do a Peston" - haha, I love it! I think this should become an official credit crunch phrase. Anything to combat the BBC's beloved descending red graph animations. I've got my (student and therefore pitiful and therefore under the £16,500 mark, erk) life savings tied up inIcesave until March 09. I know it's concerning for one and all, but I've realised there's literally nothing I can do about it, however much it scares me, and mass speculation can so easily drown out the few emerging facts. Still, I commend this forum for allowing people to voice their concerns and know that they're not alone.0 -
