I've got a significant amount Lost in Icesave.
I have withdrawn everything from KE because I will never trust an Icelandic bank again (despite all the Union Jack waving)

I only hope getting my money back from the Icelandic thieves will not take too long!!!

You've not lost a penny. Misplaced, yes, but not lost.

Actually, there's the interest from here on that you'll miss out on. That's not worth worrying about though when you've just been bailed out of a !!!!!! situation.

Yup. I'm just glad I hadn't commited any of it.

I've just transferred all out of ICICI bank too although I haven't heard anything about them.

Under a Mattress from now on.

I applied for a KE account at the weekend before all the problems of this week. Got letter today confirming account open for use.

Account balance is Nil as I haven't paid anything to it nor do I intend to.

Now understand that KE accounts are transferring to ING, don't want an account with them either.

Now who do I phone about canceling this account, ING or KE?

Or should I wait a week or two before trying to cancel.

Given the fact that they're bound to be inundated with calls / requests in the next few weeks, do those who have bigger issues with KE a favour and keep the phone queue that little bit shorter by waiting a few weeks.

Good point, will give it a couple of weeks until they're mess is sorted and accounts actually in the hands of ING.

    Then phone to cancel.

I have just registered on this forum to join in this thread. This time last year I got a few more grey hairs because my savings were stuck in Northern Rock! and here I am again. I only joined KE last week & then this pm I withdrew them, before finding out that they were liquidated. My account shows zero so goodness know where the money has gone!

My query is this - I was still able to log on to KE website this eve & even started to apply for an account (just to test it). Why is there no note on this site? I suppose I will now have an anxious 3-4 days to see if my money turns up in my linked account. I am probably worrying needlessly but I was very grateful to read of others' experiences.
  • You don't need to call to close the account. Just don't put anything in!.
The call centre have got enough to deal with over the next few wks.
