Well, I withdrew my savings from Kaupthing about 30 minutes ago and it was all confirmed in the normal way. I am going to wait until this all blows over before, as I do not want to be without access to my savings if the Icelandic government decides or has to restrict access to Kaupthing funds...Phew:eek: :eek:Love your son.0

I totally agree, but I hope you'd agree that pointing out the facts and discussing these, rather than posting alarmist misinformation is the way to go?
I don't see anyone shouting down anyone you posts factual, sensible worries or otherwise.Fella - why do you keep going from thread to thread spreading doom and gloom? For ***s sake man give us a break.
In my opinion Fella's posts here and in other threads are some of the most pertinent and factually correct ones around, especially those posted last night before all today's developments.0 -

Sky news reports..
- If an Icelandic bank failed UK customers are protected up to £50,000
- 95% of Icesave's UK customers have less than £50,000 saved
- UK savers have the first £16,170 of their money protected by Iceland
- The remaining £33,830 or double for joint accounts is protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)
- If Iceland goes bankrupt, the FSCS would cover the entire £50,000

You will not get a reply on either phone numbers available - the bank has ceased trading at the moment - it will be interesting to see if they will allow you to move funds out of your account. Anyone putting money in at the moment must be a fool.
How come you posted this at about 9.30am yet I have just been talking to them on the telephone at noon then?0 -

You're right, but I'm going to respect the Forum Manager's rules and stop the bickering. Whether you want to mark that up as a victory or not is up to you - I'm refraining from making any comments which will break the forum rules.0 -

Stavros, you just can't please some people, they are here to inflame.
They will swear black is white for pages, then quietly agree they are wrong, then swear they never said anything, then you prove they did and they come up with yet more rubbish.
Thanks anyway - this thread is not worth contributing to.0 -
That's only a fact if all UK banks had an equal chance of going bust, and (if they're not), if the FSA would pay out the money next day without any interest lost.
The FSA won't pay anyone out, it's the FSCS which does that.
Obviously some are more at risk than others, but still you are fully protected under the scheme to 50K with Kaupthing - that is a clear fact.0
