I just got a letter this morning saying the exact same thing from Tesco even though when i cancelled my policy so that it would not automatically review i was told i was upto date, there is no way i owe them another months premium. Why would any company say they charge you in arrears, that means that you could claim one month but not actually pay for that months cover because they have covered you without receiving the payment yet.
When i renewed with Tesco last year i actually asked if i could change the date of my DD but they said no because that would mean that my payment would be due after the policy has lapsed and they legally were not allowed to do that so my DD stayed the same date and was paid every month but now they are saying even though my policy ended on the 2nd October i should have paid them £54 that day when in fact the final 12th payment was 2nd September and this was confirmed over the phone the day i cancelled!0 -

Yes there is. There are 12 months in the year. That means 12 payments of x amount (although one payment may be a rounding payment). Its on your schedule what you pay. So, look at your bank statement.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. No there isn't, as i said i paid 12 payments! I also stated that according to the man i spoke to when i said i wasn't renewing i did not owe anything, i always make sure my account is up to date so i don't get unexpected bills, I do NOT owe another payment, i haven't missed any to owe them anything!0 -
mmmmmm! all starting to sound very familiar - when i first got the quote for my son, when he was about 17/18 (he is now 24 and we were still with norwich union up until last april/may) it was got through TESCO.0

Yes i was discussing this with my DH the other day and we remembered that Tesco did this in my first year too, they said i had missed a payment from the previous year and that they would be taking the missing payment plus the payment for the start of the new policy within 6 days of eachother, they did this but now they are saying the payment for the new policy on 2nd Oct 2007 was never paid, it is complete rubbish for 1 if i had not paid them i would have got letters from them at the time stating this, and 2 i would have gotten a bank charge for the money not being in my account, none of these happened because the payment was made, on time! I for one will never use Tesco again.0
