Cheap tap warning

Just thought i would post this.

i bought a lovely modern set of kitchen taps, ones with pull out sprinkler. they were cheap i think around £14,00 from one of our local cheap supermarkets. i had these fitted two weeks ago and was very pleased with my bargain
about two weeks after they were fitted i awoke in the early hours of the morning to the sound of what i thought was my washer filling..i went into the kitchen to find water pouring out of the top of the taps...water all over the worktops and new flooring...luckily i live in a bungalow and the bedroom is very near the kitchen. Although if i had been a deep sleeper i would not have heard the water. I turned the stop tap off and waited till the morning when I had to call out a plumber, buy new taps and so the cheap  taps acutally turned out to be very expensive ones..The plumber said it looked as if the tap had burst..
Im not saying all the taps sold cheap have this defect but it is what happened in my case.

so my usual response to a bargain is if it sounds too good to be true it usually is rings truer than ever.
Received £250.00 with one phone call to reclaim Mortgage Exit Administration£ fees AND £2995.00 bank charges from Lloyds TSb..All thanks to Martin Lewis. :T :money::T:beer:

That's certainly bad news. I had a lidl tap in the kitchen for over a year with no problems, and still have bathroom taps two years later. I guess unfortunately in this world of cheap items that occasionally there will be defective models. Note that much of what is sold even for a premium on the high street are still sourced from the same factories in the far east. Take a look at whats available on eBay, and compare to what Homebase, B&Q, etc. sell for twice the price.
