Girly night/Pamper evening. Ladies please vote

Hi all just wondered when you think would be the best night for a girly/pamper night-Pink Party in aid of breast Cancer?

If there was an evening near you where you could buy a ticket and go and have a few beauty treatment (mini-manicure, mini-facial etc) along with maybe some fun demonstartions (local pole dancing aerobics instructor/ann summers type demo & pampered chef etc) free wine, nibbles etc, when would be the best time for it??

Any other advice would also be much appreciated!
eg: how long should it last (I was thinking approx 2 hours, prob 7-9pm or 8-10pm)
What would make you really REALLY want to go
what would you like to see/do there?
how much would you expect to pay for a ticket?
how much would you expect to pay for a ticket if this included wine and a goody bag?
and about a million other questions!

I've been to one tonight (Saturday), and I have to say it wasn't terribly well attended, at least at the start, and we didn't stay long because the friend who needed pampering needed to go home early!

I voted for Friday night. That is definately the best night for a girly bash. the end of a working week ( for some) and the girls are ready to let their hair down and party!!

    Thanks everyone!:grinheart
Friday definate;y seems to be th emost popular choice
  • Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but I am looking at doing a fundraising pamper evening for a little girl with cancer.
I was thinking if we charged for each treatment, not the usual rates, like a manicure is usually about £12, I think!!! If we charged £5 and £3 for a Indian Head Massage etc, etc, - would that be ok.

Or would you prefer to buy a ticket and you then had what you wanted.

I, myself, thought I would not want to hand over £20 as I might not want half the treatments or it might too busy and I might miss out, but if I paid as I went (as they say), then I still might end up paying £20 but I at least I have controlled it.

    Any thoughts???? Thank you
  • Sonicshelly I would charge a nominal fee to get in (which would include a glass of wine and some basic nibbles) the charge as you say for each treatment. I would think maybe £3 to get in then good value treatments.

I agree that Friday is usually a good day for most people.

Thank you for your advice, the only thing I need to check on is the alcohol issue. I think I posted on here about selling alcohol, so instead I wondered whether I could charge admission cost and give glass of wine away?????

I will try and check with the council, thanks though for your advice, much appreciated.

you only need a licence if you sell alcohol, if you ask for 'donations', then you dont need a licence - however you can stipulate the donation fee, however people dont have to pay it - although ive yet to come across someone who wouldnt!

as for treatments, its best to run an appointment system, so that way people can fit a few treatments in without having to join a queue, as these evenings are usually quite social, so women stand around chatting, and dont want to have to split up, to wait in line, if they arent having the same treatments as friends

i think £5 per treatment is an acceptable price, for a 15min session, but that all depends on how much it costs to perform, and how much the person doing the treatment is prepared to donate back. ie, someone who uses lotions, etc. would have more outlay, than someone doing reiki. Or you charge the beautician/therapist a flat fee to hold a stall, and then its up to them what they charge, and they keep the money - however, people do like to know in advance, what is being offered and how much it costs, so perhaps you should have a pre-made price list to hand out with the tickets

i would also only do these type of events with all tickets sold in advance, so i knew whether it was gonna be a worthwhile money maker, espec as you would have to limit entry due to time constraints on treatments. it couldnt be a case of 50 women turning up, but you can only fit in 20 sessions
