I personally take some comfort from the efforts of the MSE staff to keep us all informed. Please continue to update this thread with latest developments.0

Ouch... just saw poor Martin on Channel 4 news being grilled by Jon Snow. Well done for keeping your cool (just!) Martin - must be frustrating. :mad:0

Even though I would never have got an icesave account if this site didn't exist. I still think it's bloody great!
You can sign up free, and look at all the professional help you get! And 95% of the time the advice is sound. (Had to subtract 5% for icesave :P)
Still, great job MSE staff.Savings

If it were not for Martin and this wonderful site my financial situation would be a hell of a lot worse than just 'losing' my savings in Icesave. And I recall Martin did say some time ago that the protection offered by uk banks was different from icesave. I just didnt take any notice of that piece of advice! Hoping I get my 3k back as its part of my compo and supposed to be my new start, but i'll survive, there have been worse things that have happened in my life which make money seem less significant. However I feel for those with large savings for retirement0 -
I here everything that is being said. Listening to the guy from Icesave on Saturday he was very convincing and when I have phoned KE.
I also have savings in KE fixed rate 3 year deal and am very happy to leave that as if anything happens to that money I am protected.
is that the 3year fixed bond they do
are the bonds protected same as savings? ie up to 50k or is there a clause on bonds? i thought i askOh well we only live once ;-)0 -

MARTIN - PLEASE DO NOT ABANDON US!!
I like many others trusted your site to provide clear information on all aspects of our money, for this I thank you.
I read your balanced articles on Icesave and ensured I did not have more than 35k saved with this company.
I have no doubt I will receive my money back, eventually!
Please, please champion a fight to save our ISA tax wrapper with the compensation due. Many of us have many years of ISA allowances at stake.
You know that many people who use your site are Icesave Isa savers and your representation would carry a fair amount of weight.

Martin's been banging on for months about what systems are in place to protect your money. He's been completely clear about the whole situation (much more than anyone in government or the general press - see C4s mistake about claiming from Icesave tonight, muppets) If YOU made a choice to put YOUR money in Icesave, you can't blame Martin.0 -
I thought it was a bit below the belt of Channel Four News to put a guy in a wheelchair with obvious severe physical disabilities who has £150k invested in Icesave on as well as an apparent "victim" of Martin Lewis's advice.
Yes I'm annoyed that £6k of savings has a question mark over it now, but no one put a gun to my head and told me to choose Icesave as a place to put it.
Everyone involved in finance, from the bottom to the top, across the globe, is basically making it up as they go along at the moment. Don't see why ML should be sent to the gallows for giving people advice in good faith.0 -
It has been blatantly obvious on this site that the compensation scheme was not upto the uk standard.
For this reason I decided not to deposit in iceland.
Lets be honest, why was the rate so good ? maybe because they were desperate for money ??0
