erm ....... no , i mean comodo
after a product update it caused serious conflicts
with pc, to remove i had to delve right into the registry
to remove no end of stuff that was still causing problems
there is plenty of info on the comodo forums about this
what was the product?
I know LOADS of people without any comodo problems (since they got it running properly about a year ago, before THAT there were problems as it was a completely new product they brought out):idea:0 -

Firewall - Comodo - too complicated for the average user, ZoneAlarm is fine.
Zonealarm DOES conflict with certain programs and can be an absolute biatch to remove completely (in fact i never have managed to completely remove it as of yet!)
I agree that comodo isnt the easiest firewall to use, but then we ARE in an age where nasties are getting more and more devious in their nature so id personally recommend Comodo as its been proven to be the most effective firewall to date (especially if its DEFENSE mode is used)
Following on from that though, MOST firewalls would be better than using the inbuilt Microsoft one.:idea:0 -
Firewall : Avast! / Windows
Mail Scanner: Avast!
Anti-Virus: Avast!
Spyware: Ad-Aware + Spybot S&D
The Windows firewall is actually really good, at a recent hacking competition this happened.

Vista didn’t even budge as Shane Macauley, one of last year’s winners, spent a good chunk of Thurday trying to crack it.Buy for value not cost.

I believe Vistas firewall IS a good one.
HOWEVER, purely because its shipped as standard means EVERYONE will try to attack it (and im sure SOME WILL succeed), which means a decent 3rd party firewall is usually a safer bet:idea:0 -
Thanks guys and gals for the help. Think I might have decided what to use.
Firewall - Online Armor (free version), it scores pretty well on http://www.matousec.com/projects/firewall-challenge/results.php.

I know that Comodo Firewall does score higher in the Matousec test than the Online Armor firewall, however I don't think she's the sort of girl to sit down and set it up properly (this is a girl that has let McAfee give 4 months worth of pop-ups telling her to sort out her security package).
Does the free version of SuperAntiSpyware provide real-time protection? This is the only thing i'm not too sure about.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Yes they are polls but very useful when you're polling people who are knowledgable about security software...however I don't think she's the sort of girl to sit down and set it up properly
That's why I'm happy and I'm sure she'd be with ZoneAlarm.Does the free version of SuperAntiSpyware provide real-time protection? This is the only thing i'm not too sure about.
The Real-Time Protection is the professional version only. Not needed if you ask me.0
