Hey MSE'ers!!
Need a little bit of advice about Family Tree Software, and ways to print A0/A1 copies.
I have been sent a '.FTW' file but cannot seem to open it or find what software it's been made in.
I have looked on:
http://filext.com/file-extension/FTW
It points me towards, http://www.genealogy.com/index_a.html , which I have signed up for a free trial, but cannot get the software until the trial is over.
Has anyone got any tips on opening this, or what software would you recommend to use to create a new one?
Thanks!! :j

I was going to say Family Tree Maker before I looked at your links so I presume you know that's the software you need. I don't know of any software offhand that would be able to read that filetype since as far as I know it's proprietary to Family Tree Maker. I think they sometimes give away older versions of the software on the front of Family Tree magazine. I think that's where my dad got his copy from. So check out your local WH Smiths. Also worth checking the cover discs of all the pc magazines as it occasionally pops up on them as well. Ask the person who sent you the file to save or export it as ".GED" file since this is more universally compatible with other geneology software and isn't proprietary (even online profiles such as genesreunited.com can read them). .GED is the MP3 of the geneology world and just about any suggestion anyone could make would be able to read it then."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
