Bought a hard drive, taken payment, but refuse to sell due to 'mispricing'.

Right, ordered a hard drive from a website. They took payment for the item, although are now saying the product is discontinued.
However, I bought it for £30ish, and a few days ago, the price had gone up to £50ish.
They are claiming that the original price was an error, even though they happily took that amount from my bank account, and say they cannot honour the price.
Other people have had this problem with this particular product too.
Where do I stand? I don't really want a refund, I want a 320GB hard drive for £30. So IMO they should substitute it for a different model.
I think they're just saying the product is discontinued so they don't have to honour the price.
And btw, the website involved is cclonline.com.

Take the refund, its really not worth the hassle, especially if you get it for £30 and then have a problem with it.
Wait a couple of months and you could get one from anywhere for £30.0 -
There was a thread about this recently, I can't find it unfortunately, however I believe stated that with an online purchase, either party can cancel if there is an error.0

Contract exsists

There have been umpteen cases like this over the last 5 years or more, with rare exception of an early Kodak case all the others have fallen on stony ground. I'm afraid you're wasting your time on chasing this one, lots of us have tried but gave up. Its always upsetting to miss a bargain but I think its time to look for the next one and hope it dos'nt get away.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

In a nutshell, get over it or call trading standards.
The second part of your post is quite sensible - the first part is puerile !0 -

Irrespective of money being taken most sites have T&Cs which cover themselves against misprices and E&OE.The man without a signature.0 -
Im sure if we look at their T&Cs there won't be anything regarding this.vikingaero wrote: »Irrespective of money being taken most sites have T&Cs which cover themselves against misprices and E&OE.0 -
Ive read their T&Cs noticed this
3. Prices and Ordering
3.1. Unless otherwise stated all prices are exclusive of value added tax,
delivery, insurance and installation.
I'm assuming this will be £30 +17.5%?
3.2. The price payable by the Customer will be the price current at the time of the order.
Then even by their T&Cs they have to sell am I right?
3.3. Reservation of Products does not constitute an order and is not binding on either party.
Assuming this isn't relevant
3.4. Acceptance of your order and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on dispatch to you of the products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it.
I'm assuming this is their get out clause?
3.5. Errors and omissions are excepted. Images are for illustrative purposes only.
Is this a get out of the "not as described" section of the SOGA
OP here is a similar HDD for your buck (if this is the product sort you were after) http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=22596&category_id=111&manufacturer_id=0&tid=esj9250-0010 -
Most websites (mine included) have terms and conditions stating that prices and offers are subject to availability and change and that if an item is priced in error we have the right to cancel change blah blah. Right to terminate contract blah blah, we will notify you within 24hrs blah blah. It'll all be there or should be. If it was priced in error you don't have to carry on with the purchase i.e. pay more to get it but you won't get it at that price unless the company is feeling nice and generous.
It's not worth the stress and hassle.0
