Amazon - Can they do this?

In September 2006 I purchased a memory card for my "pro" digital camera - A SanDisk 4Gb ULTRA II which was guaranteed for 10 years. This came from AMAZON - or should I say, one of its resellers called "wwtrainingsoftcouk".
Earlier this summer, the card failed so I contacted SanDisk by EMail for a replacement - they asked me to photograph the card from every angle - which I did. "Sorry - this is a fake" came back the reply.
Logging back onto Amazon, I looked at the reseller's feedback forms only to find that quite a few of its customer had received fake card. As you can guess, wwtrainingsoftcouk failed to respond to any of my EMail messages and AMAZON just said that as the transaction was over 30 days old, they wouldn't do anything. Can AMAZON do this? Effectively wash their hands after taking a commission from the £70 I paid for the card two years ago?
