Dh reduced hours .. IS??

sorry but i am going round in circles here,

hubbys work is on about reducing his hours to 14hrs a week does that mean he would be able to claim IS??, he does get a small pension from his old company if that makes a difference

i assume we would have to go off WTC onto CTC only, i earn approx £1000 a year but am on DLA and IB

thanks in advance

What rate of dla do you get.? If you get middle or higher rate care your husband could claim carers allowance for you and he might then be able to claim income support. If you only get lower rate care(high rate mobility does't count) then he would not be able to claim carers or income support as far as i know.

IIRC you might be able to claim because of incapacity and claim for him under IS rules, you would have anything over £20 a week I think it is taken off for his earnings and yours, I am really unsure what they will consider with the pension....If you contact Welfare Rights or your local IS office they should be able to advise.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

not sure what IIRC means but got the gist.. oh dear if they take anything over £20 away from us thats not going to help

lets hope they dont go ahead with the reduction as planned

    thanks

I think IIRC stands for If I Recall Correctly.
  • a couple of things that could help us

    Hours he works
    other benefits received

well the threat to reduce his hours was put off for 18months but it has been brought up again.

i dont know if rules have changed since this last post of mine but i would appreciate any advice as to whether we/he could claim IS or anything else if they do go ahead which looks likely now. the figures i put in my last post are sitll pretty much correct now

    many thanks in advance
