Okay, I give up!
Serve fresh air and more fresh air.
Or serve a Mauritian Prawn and chicken Curry and Rice. And accompaniments, grated coconut, tomato and onion and green chilli sambals, mango chutney.

I don't think anyone suggested the OPs party should be vegetarian, wheat free, raw, or any other 'weird fad'. Vegetarian items were suggested because the OP said no red meat, and funnily enough vegetarian food can still be quite tasty. Someone commented/joked that they wouldn't come because it didn't fit their dietary choice (fair 'nuff). And now it's all blown up into fights.
... does every meal really have to contain some form of animal or else people get upset?
betheebee... nice to be of service *bows*0 -
To be honest I'd go for a couple of nice types of bread and some dips - guacamole, hummus, good olive oil, cheeses, maybe a bit of salami etc... much more would be a bit of a hassle. Personally I also prefer to stay away from the oven when I've had a few0

Turkey meat loaf - 500g minced turkey - 500g minced pork – 4 rashers of smoked bacon (minced) - 1 finely chopped onion - few spoonfuls chopped fresh parsley - season with ground cumin, shake of Tabasco, salt and pepper. Fry a small patty to taste and adjust seasoning . Cook meatloaf at 200c for 45-60 mins. To be served at room temperature...so you can cook it before you go out.
Vegetable lasagna - I usually use spinach and cottage cheese with a scraping of nutmeg in the middle layer and add thinly cut, lightly fried courgettes to the tomato sauce. For me the more cheese the better, so mozzarella as I am layering and mozzarella and parmesan on the top. You can prep the lasagna in the morning and stick it in the oven when you get back - takes about 25 mins to cook.
Pasta salad - make up in the morning.

Potato salad - dressed with mayo or french dressing - toasted sunflower seed are a good addition.
Bread - a couple of nice cheeses - olives - mayonnaise - a green salad or simply a dish of baby toms, pepper strips, cucumber sticks etc.
Don't forget something sweet - I often make a huge bowl of profiteroles with a choice of chocolate or toffee sauce on the side. Tiramisu usually goes down well, Pavlova also0 -
