Do scrapyard still pay for car shell if I strip useable parts out?
My fiesta unfortunately suffered an oil leak from the near top of the engine, I assumed this could be the head gasket. There is damage to the engine as there is a clonking noise now with the engine running (pistons or valves or others). I have a mechanic to look at it this week to let me know what the real extend is.
If the engine needs replacing then I'll be looking to strip as much useable parts that i'm able to strip and store as the car only cost me £600 (1997). These parts I can sell on or use it a spares for my next fiesta.
air filter
starter motor
distributor
alternator
battery
light units - front, back, fog.
radiator with fan
wheels
mirrors
parcel shelf
CAT (if I can manage with just a jack)
I know there are other small parts i can take off like water pump, fuel pump and other bits - if i have the time and space I will try to take it.
What would I get roughly get from the scrap yard? Will they still pay and take the shell away?
Thanks.

No, you need to drive it in nowerdays otherwise they wont take them. Not the one near me anyway...:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

One near to me takes shells, in fact they will give you more if you take the tyres away.
Best ring around locally to see what the situation is.0 -
We got a quote for right crapheap over the phone from about 4 or 5 different people. The one we went with honoured it when he came to collect it and paid us about half what we actually had paid for the car (£110). I think the whole point is that they take them for parts though, so I'm not sure in your case!0

depends really
if they are just doing it for metal they probably wont care as they just weigh em, if they will use it for parts its less useful for them
My mate gets the carpets etc wet as it adds weight!0 -

Nice. I just rang around some scrapyards......one will pick it up but will not pay, others are willing to pay if the parts are still there. Need to find out which one pays for metal. So basically if my car cost too much to repair i either strip (sell parts or use as spare) and get rid of shell for free or sell whole car as it is to get money for it. So after the mechanic see it this week, I will then decide which options would get me the most money.

Try ringing a proper scapyard, not a car breaker, they will not care what has been removed.0

I'm hoping to do much the same when I get rid of my car. No point chucking the couple of brand new parts I put on the car
. Let us know how you get on

Stick it on ebay as breaking it and see what enquiries you get too.
As said above, scrapyard moe likely to give you money than a breaker.
Your CAT is worth at least 30quid due to the rare metals contained within.0
