Insuring 2nd car while trying to sell

I recently changed cars (Passat to Micra - bit of a change of scale) and swapped my insurance from the old car to the new car. I then took out (the maximum) 4wks cover with my existing insurer to cover the old car while I tried to sell it, only problem was I got sent away on business for 2 wks.

Things are going pretty slowly with the sale and I may need to get a bit more insurance. Can anyone tell me the quickest / easiest way to do this? Will I still be able to get my full no claims on that car?

Have you talked to your insurer? I had this problem a few years ago and my insurer at the time (Norwich Union) would extend the 2nd car cover month by month for a small charge. I think there must have been a time limit eventually though.

If your insurer won't do this then trawl back a little way through the board, someone else was asking the same question and I think there was a pointer to someone doing short-term insurance.
