Hi Guys,
I am thinking of buying one of these for my hubby for xmas as he has shown quite abit of interest in them!
The problem is i think they would be abit 'childish' but i cant afford anything more expensive!
He would use it in work (chef) for simple spreadsheets and work rotas ect, perhaps link upto the wireless broadband from the main office and use the skype to talk to us at home ect.(he does have a main work pc,so really this is just a gadget for him!!!)
the two i have found are;
the eee pc £169 from toys r us
and
Elonex one from £99
I understand these laptops are aimed at children......and he is a beginner with computers, lol.I just wanted peoples opinions on them, are they really rubbish? would you recommend either of them?
Will they be popular for pre teens this xmas!!??
Thanks for any responses.
xx

The Asus Eee PC is an excellent netbook. It's aimed more at people who want an ultra portable internet solution rather than children (or at least, that's mainly who's buying it).
I bought a 701 a year ago when they first came out and upgraded to a 901 a couple of months ago. I bought the 901 as I found the 7" screen a little on the small side, but had the 901 not been launched, I'd have lived with it quite happily.
The Linux version comes with a comprehensive suite of software, including an office suite with spreadsheet, word processor and lots of other applications.
I'd recommend the Asus with no hesitation. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

This site tracks prices (inc. delivery) for all Eee PC models.
Amazon seem to be about the cheapest for the 701 right now. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
