Can someone please clarify for me, when you sell something, does the buyer see your address, and if you only accept Paypal payment, would your address be shown ?

Hi,
If you only accept payment by Paypal then your address is not shown.
If you offer other methods of payment then your address will only be shown at checkout if they choose to pay you by one of the other methods providing your address is on record.0 -
Even if you only accept paypal, your address and contact details are always obtainable for the buyer via the 'request sellers contact info' option.
PS: I must ask DaisyChain; why do yo feel the need to put all your posts in bold?0 -
Think of the joy that us business sellers have when we work from home - address is either on the listing, on the About Me page, or a custom shop page, which is visable to all, regardless of whether they make a purchase or not...<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0

If a buyer requests your contact info, does it give your full address ?You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

If you request contact details, only phone numbers are given and not your address.
As for my posting style, why not?0 -

Am I the only person who finds that really worrying - why is it necessary for an address to be shown
It also brings up the question of if you are burgled, how would the insurance company feel about your address being given ?You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

It's been a while since I've used the "Request Contact details" function, but i remember the streetname and postcode being issued, although not the house number.
slanted green - 'cos I can!!
although it takes more keypresses, so why bother?!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

It's a legal requirement under the Distance Selling regulations that all online business sellers must adhere to. It's not an eBay rule, but an EU law.It also brings up the question of if you are burgled, how would the insurance company feel about your address being given ?
I can't speak for others, but I have had to amend my household insurance policy to cover business use, and I have a £5000 limit on business stock.
Most policies will cover business use to "administrative duties only", such as working from home, or doing bookkeeping, but when it comes to online retailing then it has to be declared. It only adds another £110 on to my household policy, so not the end of the world, but it is just another consideration that I have to make when pricing.
And people wonder why business sellers get fed up with hobby sellers?!!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
