Over payment

Hi i have recvd a court summons for an overpayment that was pais out in 2004-2005 of approx £1400 which could be correct as i was doing a lot of overtime, this i am prepared to payback however i also have an over payment for 2005-2006 for approx £3000 which has been completely stopped as IR are saying that i informed them of a change of circumstance but did not tell them what the change was. Firstly i do not recall telling them of a change of circumstance, i have requested the document that says this but have had no reply which seems to be the case when i have written to them on several ocassions about several things. Surely if i filled out the form incorrectly they should have asked me for this info as i did not change my circumstances. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this court as in magistrates?

Get a solicitor, especially with it being the Inland Revenue. You need proper legal advice.
