Wireless broadband connection

Hi there
I've recently installed a Wireless broadband connection (through Post Office). Been up and running 2+ weeks now. Seems to work ok most of the time, but do suffer from "connection dropping out" from time to time. Have spoken to Post Office and they tell me that it should "settle down and begin to improve" after 10 days or so (we haven't had broadband before). The Post Office can confirm that our connection is dropping. The problem seems more evident when I'm on Facebook, chatting to friends as they comment that I keep "going offline" (I haven't - or at least I don't think I have). My question is - is the connection dropping a "quirk" of wireless or is it something that I should push for the Post Office to investigate further with the local exchange?
Thanks!

How far away from your wireless router are you using your PC (or Laptop)? How many walls etc? Try wiring your PC direct into your router, instead of wireless and try Facebook again. If the problem is still there then there may be a problem with your connection or router.0

Is it the wireless bit or the adsl bit that is dropping off?
i.e are you wirelessly connected to your router alright or does this keep dropping off or does the router lose connection to the internet?
If it is the latter I had that for a while and I got a new router and o2 tweaked the line for me - now all is rock solid0 -
Thanks for your reply. There are 2 PCs connected wirelessly. Probably 5 metres (and through one wall) away. Router is plugged into the phone socket in the hallway where it enters the house. Signal strength between 2 PCs seems fairly strong (70-80%).0

It's losing connection to the internet.0

What make is the router? Is it one you got free when signing up?0

So the wireless bit is fine.
Did you have a router/modem before and was this okay?0 -
The router is the one that Post Office supplied - Netgear. I'm a very recent convert to broadband. Up until 2 weeks ago I was only on dialup!0

the connection dropping isnt a quirk with wireless. unless you have poor signal strength to your PC. It coud be the router or modem can't handle the traffic, or the connection to the ISP is iffy - if its the router then it can be replaced (not saying it is the router) - but if its the line . will have to get ISP to sort it.
Can you connect directly to the internet without the router? if so see if you still get the connection problems.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
I would get back onto the PO and ask them what they are doing to sort the problem.
They should be able to test the line and if it is a line fault pass it on to BT.
If it is not then it may be a duff router so they should send another one to you.
Either way I wouldn't wait for it to just "settle down"0
