I have music on a tape cassette I wish to put onto cd . My Hi -fi is connected to my pc, so I play sound on the pc through the hi-fi speakers. Thus I can play music on the hi-fi and using the in line or mic line on the pc surely I can get the music onto the pc, so I can then burn a cd?
I have windows xp home, Also I have audacity 1.26 which I have tried to use to record the music, but cannot work out how to do this. I am not very good at stuff when it comes to pc's!!! no matter how hard I try!!!
Can anyone please, give me instructions (either for audacity or any other way, free) so that I can do this?
MANY THANKS in advance for your help.

look on the audacity website theres a tutorial, its pretty easy to do, even the help files can give you pointers,
Connect your stereos output (headphones and suchlike) to the line in or MIC socket of your pc then play with audacity."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"
