If you read the terms and conditions of MOST online stores, they state you will not be charged until your order can be fulfilled. I know it states that on the Woolworths site, which is why I complained and maybe why I have one coming.
Just a thought, I'd have to check the Argos T&C to be honest

Just read the Argos T&C's and they take payment on placing the order (which I think is wrong). So even WITH the money being taken, you are still not guarenteed a machine. Could be a nervous weekend waiting for either Wollies or Argos to deliver (no pun intended)0 -

I've actually just checked my bank account online which although doesn't give transactions through today - the account status shows what is pending - and it looks as though there's about £570ish to be taken from my account but I don't know what for - I've ordered so many that are now on re-order - although the Argos core system looks a probable debit (but not so probable delivery!)0 -
My Core box is due on Saturday, having ordered around 1545hrs Thursday 8th. (from Argos). Got the end of order AD reference number but no confirmation email yet.

Well if Argos mess this one up it'll be all over the national press and watchdog!
I have faith in them, placed order a few minutes after it was posted, premium package, and called CS a few hours later to confirm and they said no problem at all.
So many people being told different things it's becoming more like a Dell thread by the minute
At the end of the day you don't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket so keep ordering from these various sites and hopefully one of them will come good0 -

To be honest - when there's a problem with the delivery/order the staff at these call centres are just told to say 'blah' by their supervisors. I know when I rang Comet about the order I placed last week - the lady I spoke to on the phone was adamant that the products were not available for sale and there had been an internet error - when I told her I knew of several people (moneysavers) who had actually received the order including the hard drive she didn't know what to say and said that in all honesty she had been told they were not available by her supervisors and she believed that to be correct.
I'm not holding out much hope for the delivery on Monday - or in fact by any of the orders before xmas (but I have suddenly turned ino a pessimist since this whole xbox thing).0 -

I've just got three e-mails in the past half hour.
(i) The first at 12:24 reads like Neildo's e-mail two posts back and states this Monday for delivery.
(i) The second at 12:26 simply states:
"Thank you for using argos.co.uk
Your order number for the following item(s) is ***AD02170xxxx***"
However the order number doesn't match the order number of the first e-mail, which is also the order number I was given upon purchase online.
(iii) The third email also at 12:26 states:
"Thank you for using argos.co.uk
Unfortunately the following item(s) are now out of stock. This amount has not been charged to your card. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Please try again in a few days, as we should receive more stock shortly.

I don't know what is going on and where the second order number comes from in the second e-mail comes from.

Just ordered a core - avaliability was showing as avaliable in my area, delivery within 2 days - HA3 area if anyone else lives nearby. Lets hope a confirmation email comes soon0
