Following on from my previous post i've been and looked at my meter and jotted down information but i have absolutely no idea what it means. The meter is a Landis Gyr+.

First bit to come up, then followed by
  • '27 GD Remaining £10.65'
  • '25 GD Week Min £2.80/Max £3.50'
  • '24 GD Received Rate 70%'
  • 'Last Credit £5 4/10/08'
  • 'Last for Debt £3.38'
  • 'Last for Emergency £0.12'
  • 'Owed £42.05'
I am seriously confused and have no idea what any of it means, not only that but the owed bit keeps going up and down daily without any credit added  it started at £47-odd, then went down to £38-odd, then back up to £45-odd, after topping it up on the 4th it was £44-odd and now its £42.05

Please can someone help, NPower are complete numpties.

I think these are right (but don't take as gospel!)

27 GD Remaining - your total outstanding debt
24 GD Received rate - the maximimum percentage they can deduct from any credit you put in your meter to offset your debt (70%)
Last credit - when you last put some money in your meter and how much
Last for debt - how much of that credit was taken for debt
Last for emergency - how much of that credit was taken to top up your emergency reserve (note these last two add up to 70%)
    Owed..... no idea!!

Thanks PJD, i'm going to ring them because apparently by law they can't take any more than £3.50 a week from me, although if all i owe is £10.65 i won't whinge too much lol!

I think that's the £3.50 specified in the 25 GD Max line. All the best..

The owed screen (no number, you get it when you just press the red button from your credit) shows you how much you owe for standing charge (or tariff recalibration) emergency credit, and possibly any missed balance payments.
I don't think there is a law that limits how much they can recover from you, but there is a recommended minimum that matches what the benefits agency uses for recovery through Fuel Direct - currently £3.05.

Looks like you have a newer meter that doesn't start at screen 00.
    I think your screens will go 27, 25, 26, 24, 00, 01, 02 03, 31, 29, 20, 28.. (there are more but the first 8 are the most useful0
I might have put a list of the screens up on here a while back, but that might just have been for electricity. I'll have a search.

    Found it:

  • Just so you know, the most my company will ever take on a pp meter per week is £10. the lowest is usually £3.50 ish and is reserved for those on benefits.
