Looking to change energy supplier but confused...

Morning,

I've just sat down to look into changing my energy supplier using a switching website, which I have a few times before over the years, but I am a little confused and don't know how to proceed...

My bills are from Southern Electric (gas and elec) but they say Equigas and Equipower on the and I can't find this on any of the drop down menus when you have to choose your supplier or tariff.

Should I just choose SE as my supplier?

Any advice would be much appreciated...

Cheers,

Loid

PS - When I chose SE as my supplier, it was suggested that I switch to Birtish Gas Click. Anyone have any experience of this?

Which crap comparison site are you using?

Try using a better one e.g. here

The supplier should be listed as ebico; equigas and equipower are their tariffs.

If the supplier is not listed, is there an option to state the supplier as 'Not listed'?

As long as you are putting in the consumption in kWh as opposed to £, then it doesn't really matter what supplier you say you currently have for comparison purposes (but it may cause a problem if you try and switch with an incorrect current supplier)

A couple or words of caution.

If the site does not include your current supplier, then any savings as a percentage will obviosly be wrong - but the site will still show you the cheapest option by total cost.

However, if ebico are not in their list of suppliers, then they probably don't include ebico in their comparisons either. They may actually still be cheapest.

    Thanks again Premier.

It seems that BG Click 6 is the cheapest at the moment so think I'll go for that...

Do you know if I should join Quidco and make the switch, or just go through MoneySupermarket who are offering £30 cashback?

I've never used Quidco so don't quite understand it fully. It looks worth joining though, even if you only make a rare purchase using it?

Don't bother with quidco for a BG switch at present (cashback does vary with them) - they currently only pay £5 for a dual fuel switch and quidco will end up keeping that as their annual fee (as you haven't yet paid it).

Use one of the switch sites in the resource bar above (use those links - don't go direct to the switch site as you won't get the cashback)

uswitch offer a free crate of cheap plonk (suggested to be worth about £40 by those in the know) if that interests you.

moneysupermarket.com is the next best paying £30 for a dual fuel switch - but they only pay out once per household - if they've paid you for a previous switch you won't get any again.

The others pay out slightly less (and does vary by site), but you get it even if you've received a cashback from them before for a previous switch.
