Digital Scrapbooking

Waahaaay!!! I've just had my first go at digital scrapbooking :o It's not quite up to the 'professional crafters' standards :rotfl: I was going for something that might keep a granny happy, and perhaps printing off and putting in a frame for Christmas.

Does anybody else do it digitally (;)), as I could do with some tips tbh :o

:T That's really excellent for a first attempt! I would have thought you'd been doing it for some time :T

I don't stick to many hard and fast rules myself - so long as you use acid free papers/embellishments etc. just go with what you are happy with and en joy it :D

Hi, I've just started scrapbooking myself and your page looks fab. Is digital scrapbooking easy, and do you just print it off at home? I was wondering how you would do this if you wanted to do a 12 x 12 page.
There are some fab shadow box frames in Home Bargains for 1.99 that are perfect for giving as gifts if you put a picture in and a few decorative bits. There's a few pictures on the crafty for xmas thread.

And that's way too kind ;)

Nope that's seriously my first attempt, I've fiddled with photos in Photoshop before, but never ever added embellishments, text or used a background ever, so I didn't really know where to start, I've been looking at others' work for ages and wondered how on earth they did it.

I downloaded some stuff from a site last week, and just decided to go for it last night, cos after all, you can't damage anything like when you use real paper etc LOL. BUT I don't know how to do the curvy shapes that some people use in theirs,
and god only knows how you do something like this one, I'm assuming they use kits :confused: But I'm not sure I want to pay out for that and then maybe not get on with it

Hi melissa, I don't really know the answers to your questions, as I say I started late last night :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I found it relatively easy last night, apart from the stuff I downloaded was zipped so I couldn't just drag and drop like I wanted. But luckily I live with an IT nerd and he got it all working, so then it reall was a case of dragging and dropping the snowflakes, hearts, ribbon and letters. I knew how to resize objects and can just about work with layers, so that wasn't too bad.

I am thinking about printing it off at home, but am guessing it will only be A4 size as that's the only size photo paper I have to hand. I should imagine you can increase the image to 12x12 though and then trim paper down

You've just given me a great idea with the shadow boxes, thanks for that. Only prob is we don't have Home Bargains down here icon9.gif But I am thinking about adding fine glittery white sand, snowflakes and stars inside box frame when I find one :T:T:T

I love the idea of digital scrapbooking, but I'm a little wary of the price of printing it off. I don't think I could afford to keep replacing the ink cartridges. Is it less expensive than using the papers? I suppose it depends somewhat on the cost of your ink cartridges.

Hmmm I'm not sure how muc it would cost, or how ou would go about costing it. I guess one way would be to only use a set or cartridges just for scrapbooking and see how many pages you could get out of them and then cost up how much the materials would have cost for all of those pages  LOL there's a reason I teach sport and not maths though, so my suggestion could be pants there ;);)

I was also thinking about using the Snapfish etc type offers, and perhaps doing a few pages and putting them in the Photobooks when they are on offer, as another type of present. I guess you could also put your scrapbook pages onto mugs, t-shirts, keyrings, cushions, calendars etc etc through the same process.

Never done digital scrapbooking but don't have one of those hi tech cameras for photos anyway and to be honest wouldn't know where to start.
So for me, I think I'll stick to the glue and paper way - safest for me....................lol
