Worth remembering that it is the first time ever that they are exercising an FSCS guarantee, with the added complication that a passport scheme is involved.
That's not strcitly true. The FSCS is always investigating instances of businesses and money lenders going under and having to refund consumers left in the brown stuff.
But yes, they've never had to deal with a collapse on this scale.0 -

Jaysus! That makes me furious.
So the FSCS produced 14bn out of thin air in a heartbeat to save the B&B but is taking weeks to sort out Icesave.
And there I was defending it cos it hadn't tackled anything on the scale of Icesave before.
OK, something's up...0 -
so why is isnt this info on the FSCS site? is it offical or just more presumptions?
...
It's a cut and paste from news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7665451.stm on the 11th of October, which in turn was cut and pasted from www.icenews.is/index.php/information/uk on the same date.
So old news, no new news, and in fact no more up to date than the info from the same date on the FSCS website. Just took moneyfacts 6 days longer to find it ...0 -
I am imagining this or going senile? I thought there was at one point a statement put out by the FSCS or FSA unambigously stating that there would be a single claims process to the FSCS.
I'm 99% sure on that - but may be going completely mad (which is understandable).
If I'm right - and if I am I'm sure someone will jump on here with the relevant original posting form one or the other - then this is a step backwards i.e. 'hopeufl that...'.
Umm, maybe I am going senile.0 -
sadly i think your right. but i dont think it was anything 100% legit interms of comfirming it so tbh i think we are just in the same position.but just differently worded from the FSCS guy.
anyway why isnt this info on the fscs site but posted on another and then posted on here?0 -

I did wonder if you knew about it from your previous answer....Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
