Yes, in the light of the last 48 hours, it was clearly scare-mongering with no basis in fact at all....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
ignore the extremist scaremongering
except it wasn't extremist or scaremongering, was it?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Don't let this put you off - we're in unprecidented times!
I have over £100K in Icesave (3 seperate accounts) and I'm not worried
Why are you not worried?
We have £35k with Icesave, and I'm not exactly overjoyed about it....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Keep at it, neverdespairgirl!
It's worth preserving comments like that.
It helps people realise that shills are working forums like this one. Their job is to lure capital into Icesave (and other banks), and they do so in the full knowledge that there is a grave risk to the investor.
The banks' use of anonymous propagandists, posing as members of the public, is a huge scandal in itself.
I see some of those shills are now deleting their messages - removing the evidence - presumably for fear this outrage could reach a Court.
Perhaps the MSE webmaster can do his bit, and archive the web access logs, complete with every poster's IP address..
As the New Labour mantra goes... "if you've nothing to hide, you've nothing to fear...""If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Disregarding all the arguments going on here, what do you do when you're blamed for recommending Icesave to close friends and family, stating the best rate for ISA and fixed rate accounts and then this happens?0

I posted earlier about where the Icesave money is exactly, and I was jumped on! It matters because if the funds are still in Britain - in an account in a British bank - it may be possible to get a court order to release the money.0

I've just started switching my IceSave ISA to NatWest. Now I'm wondering whether to cancel (still within the 14 days' cooling off period) so as to deal with the IceSave claim via FCSC myself or whether to let NatWest get on with it. (Assuming things go that far.)
Any views from people with knowledge of retail banking? However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts0 -

Like lots of others I have savings with Icesave (a mere £4500 but a good few years savings nonetheless ). Very disappointed with the LACK OF COMMUNICATION and feel sick to the stomach.
I did know and (kind of) understand the workings of the FSCS for this bank a/c - read the details on this very website so no compliant with Mr Lewis.
However, the lack of reassurance from Icesave/Landsbanki and the UK Govt is appalling - we need to know where we stand. Fair enough it may take some time to get the money back from Iceland, but clarification that we WILL get it back will go miles for consumer confidence. Lets just say, it has been a very sleepless night. My partner works for RBS and if the worse happens (sorry - just speculation here guys - my knowledge of economics is obviously poor) then we need the Icesave money to help out...
This is a very unique situation that I believe has never happened before and I guess thats why the communication is taking time. This is the only thing that reassures me. Also, if we don't get our money there will be lots of !!!!@d off savers willing to stash under the matress in future which will obviously serve to worsen the UK economy. HOPEFULLY the Govt won't let that happen.
Fingers crossed and time will tell guys! Chin up and remember - health is more important than wealth!0 -
Icesave will refuse the transfer request.
Thanks - that was quick. I realise this. It may be that NatWest will simply void my application if Icesave melts. But if NatWest don't and if the compensation machinery starts grinding should I take the initiative and cancel with NatWest so as to pursue my own claim anyway? However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends.
