I have just moved £3k out with no problems.
I have still got £86K left in so don't accuse me of panic!!0 -
If, for some reason, Iceland couldn't pay up then you'd hope that the UK system would make up the difference. But then I guess you'd hope a lot of things that haven't happened so far.0

It's all a game of confidence.Father, Husband, Jogger, Painter. Mostly at the same time, except the jogging and painting bit, it didnt work out.0

Glad to see someone else in a similar position, although not quite such a good balance as you
PS how long should a CHAPS transfer from Icesave to your nominated account take? It appears gone from my Icesave account, but not showing in my linked account?0 -
I have had CHAPS come in as late as 5pm on the same day. They usually seem to be in just before 4pm.
But it can happen much earlier.0 -
Thanks Wolf Man0

I also heard that BBC report and it made me a little anxious.
We have all our savings in an ICESAVE account which amounts to about £30k.
However I am likely to need to draw down on some of these savings in the short to medium term (sometime bewteen now and next March) to pay for some building work.
I know my savings are protected but my concern is that if ICESAVE does runinto trouble how quickly could i recover my funds. There are guestimates about how long that would take under the passport system but no real proof as yet.
Can I ask what people think would be wise given my access to funds issue? Should i consider moving the funds somewhere UK based where it's all covered by the UK scheme alone? I am loathe to add to the problem by creating a run on the bank but at the same time I need to address my own situation as well?
All sensible advice very welcomed. :T
All stupid advice welcomed with a smile and a middle finger!:D
My personal feeling (for what it's worth) is that no banks in Europe are going to be allowed to go bankrupt as that would undermine consumers' confidence in the entire banking system which would just aggravate the current economic problems.0 -
Just read that shares in all Icelandic banks have been suspended this morning pending an announcment so I'm transferring out now. It's just easier to transfer out now to save potentially a lot of hassle in the future.0
