Electricity charges - I think we're being ripped off...

It makes you wonder why the previous tenant didn't question their energy supplier over the meter. They must have been paying way over the odds.0
-
They were foreign (Eastern European I think), so maybe they just thought it was the normal price?0
-
Check meter now in for a week, and I did some quick calculations yesterday and it seems that the main meter is indeed around 171-172% faster than the check. So far we've used about 180 units over the week (total), but I must confess to running the tumble dryer an awful lot over the weekend

Has this been resolved by your supplier yet then? Or does the test have to continue for a certain length of time?
Be interested to find out!0 -
The check meter was read on Friday, I gave up checking myself once I was certain the main meter was turning over faster than the check meter. Now they have the figures I'm suspecting (hoping?) their resistance will end (nothing that's happened so far has seemed to convince anyone I've spoken to that their equipment could possibly be faulty - they have enormous faith in these meters don't they?) and they'll swap my meter and recalculate my bills.
I haven't paid them a penny so far and don't intend to until it's resolved.0 -
Check meter confirmed main was faulty, check meter removed and main meter changed - just waiting for a recalculated bill.0
-
Am still waiting for said bill - 4 months later! Do I have an obligation to remind them again (I already called them and told them - they were surprised by the news that the meter had been changed), or is it all their own fault if they don't bill me?0
-
Personally I would chase it up as you don't want a large bill when they eventually sort things out.0
