Evening ladies.
The title of my post - we have his programme on, and although i'm not impressed by the amount of swearing coming from his mouth, we did notice he was filmed in the coal mine that runs under my house pretty much. We can see the pit tip from our back windows.
Other than that, I haven't done as much as i wanted yet again, as i am poopered. got the kids in bed for 7:30, then collapsed. That is life. No plans for much tomorrow either as it is visit parents Wednesday, and there is a parents evening at DS1's nursery tomorrow night at 6 that i should go to.
We also thought the cat had gone missing as he didn't come in for food at the usual time and he is normally very punctual. I'd noticed he was limping really badly with both back legs this morning, so i made DH go out and look for him as he normally doesn't go further than the garden. He's shown up now again, I might claim not to like the smelly cat but i did worry about him.
m0zzy don't think anyone replied to you - the heroes repeat was on Sunday, so i think you've missed it honey. It's probably on iplayer.
pigpen ouchy - your fall sounded nasty. Hope you are ok.
lil-me hope things are not too crazy for you tomorrow. Best of luck to you and DH.
serena if you want to bounce any ideas, PM me. I had a Y9 and y8 class from hell last year and got very little support with it, and it really grinds you down.
right - brain fog. Think it is time for me to rest my little head in case i need to get up at 4:30 again - i don't think i will sleep too well as i look and feel like Jordan at the moment. Can't wait to get back to my normal flat chestedness, Might take a parecetomol before bed.

........ the important thing is that the smell is unobtrusive, and you shouldn't smell of perfume, just nice. Which is why it is a good idea to mix your own signature scent from essential oils.
Just in case anyone hasn't noticed... I don't approve of synthetic chemicals. I use natural cleaning products, toiletries & cosmetics, and TRY not to buy clothes made from conventionally farmed or synthetic materials... but it's tough.
thats partly why i love this thread I am learning all sorts of intersting information.... I would like to be 'greener' but find it pricey still in lots of things.
I like the idea of smelling 'just nice' - I think i def go overborad with the perfume!!! will have to get into the essential oils more again - I love geranium and pure rose oil - but i also like grapefruit, tangerine(not orange) and lime.
how do you know if clothes are made from conventionally farmed materials - sorry to be dumb but I havent really thought about this before - so what do you buy in clothes - are ther specific sites for this - I am guessing they are not on the high street!!!!
if you dont want to clutter up the thread can you pm me sometime - no hurry - I can see you are busy for now and so am I( trying) so I really should NOT get sidetracked!

Um, my way .... ?
Empty dishwasher
Filters de-gunked (normally "persuade" DH to do that)
And an empty dw put on a cycle with a cup of vinegar in it .......
Pardon me for being dim but...
Do I put a dishwasher tablet in as well?
Can I use malt vinegar coz I don't want to waste my expensive white wine vinegar?Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0 -
White vinegar - use the distilled stuff which is clear - similar price not the wine one. Malt is fine.
No don't put a tablet in as well just a cup of soda crystalsThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
christmasshopper - no tablet and yes you can use malt vinegar (its more smelly than white vinegar) or bleach or soda crystals - it just helps break down the limescale and clears all the pipes out.

Toots - always happy to find someone else ripe for conversion!!
Try the Green & Ethical board for ideas (there is more to it than the mooncup thread!).
Good places for info include Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Ethical Consumer, Womens' Evironmental Network, WWF
Websites such as Natural Collection, SoOrganic, Ethical Superstore, LoveLula, Greenfibres etc.
Health food shops for toiletries/cosmetics (you need to learn to read the labels, so see if you library can get you The Toxic Consumer, A Good Life, magazines such as Healthy & Organic Living, Ethical Consumer
Clothes - if you must buy cotton get organic (& preferably fairtrade); vegetarian silk (did you know silkworms are killed in conventional silk production?!); hemp & bamboo are really sustainable materials. Lots of high street shops stock quite a bit of this now.
Vintage/second-hand/reclaimed etc. is the most environmentally sound solution. Buying new means using raw materials, which is inefficient. Generally being green/ethical is also economical in the long run. Since I've become picky about this kind of thing I've saved loads of money as I can't buy most things
I could go on... but best not to take over the thread!
If anyone wants any ideas, feel free to PM me, but do check out the green & ethical board as there are lots of ideas on there.0 -
sorry dusty - cross posted

Rant alert
Aaaaaaagh  – I cant believe that I have just done most of the list on my own again. OK, came home from work and took doogie to the vet, back home again then made pizza dough and home made pizza for tea. DS then went off to Tae Kwon Do and DD filled the dishwasher after OH moaned at her to help. I then asked DD to go to bed ON TIME which she did. I then proceeded to start on the kitchen list thinking that OH would help. Err no – he sat at the dining table on his lap top even when I was clattering round with the shelves out of the oven. When it came to wiping the table down he sat back in his chair so that I could do the bit in front of him !!!!!! I was so mad. The only thing he offered to do was make me a cuppa tea and when I told him I hadn’t got time he still didn’t take the hint. Is there any hope………………………………….
About to have a catch up as theres at least 10 pages so will hopefully post some replies later

Evening all :hello:
You lot can't half gab!
Flying here is almost none existent, but I'm constantly damping down hotspots and doing my best to keep up with the washing up
Today I've :- Washed up twice
- 7 hours at placement (making models of Queen Victoria, a boy chimney sweep, a little girl mill worker and Isambard Kingdom Brunel out of newspaper & masking tape - the kids made tube armatures yesterday so today was a padding out day)
- 30 mins studying at lunch time. Made a small dent in 1 chapter
- All DDs badges sewn onto her sash for Brownies
- A stew in the slowcooker prepared for tomorrow. Had enough ingredients to bag up some ready chopped stuff for the freezer. So between the slowcooker & the freezer we have
- 4 leeks
- 1 winter cabbage
- 1 turnip
- 3 large parsnips
- carrots (in the process of doing these, not enough room in the freezer for them all)
- Potatoes (more to peel and prep but these can wait until I need them now)
- 2 packs of beef stewing steak browned and split 4 ways (1 in the slowcooker)
- 1 mixed bag of peelings to make soup with
- Finances up to date
- Washing away
- Numerous hotspots tackled as I pass.
- DD to Brownies & back in her uniform
Plan for tomorrow and Thursday is just to keep on top of the dailies (maybe show the floors the vacuum.
and give DD a duster....
) and hopefully I will get a chance to study at lunch time again, and maybe I might be able to catch up enough to get somewhere with my essay! But the good thing is, tea is now sorted for the next two nights!
