Electric vs Gas Heating

Anyone have any realistic figures how more expensive an electric heating system (similar to Central heating) would be?

What with Gas prices rising faster than Electric prices would the gap therefore be closing in which an electric heating system wasn't as expensive anymore relatively?

Am a tenant and so when i see 'electric heating' i get a bit worried but would be good to realise what that means in terms of cost.

Electric heating on a daytime tariff is still the most expensive way of heating in UK.
That includes all forms of electrical heater* - convector, oil filled radiator, electric boiler to radiators etc. All of these heaters give out exactly the same amount of heat for your ££££££

The 2 factors in the comparison are the price you pay for gas and electricity and the efficiency of your gas boiler.

However despite the recent gas price increases, electricity is still roughly 2 to 3 times more expensive than gas in fuel running costs.**

* Excluding Heat pumps and storage heating.
**Gas requires expensive servicing - electricity doesn't. but landlord pays normally.
