Hello
I recently have joined facebook.
And was amazed that several people were shown to me to add as a friend.
Some were people I know but others I don't know.
How does this happen?
Thanks

They're probably friends of people that you've already added. Some you won't know and some you will...0

I've only recently joined too and have the same thing.
I agree - they seem to be 'friends of friends' or people who are in my 'network' where I live or where I went to school

If people have surfed the site and looked at my profile be the ones added to be my 'friend'?0

Alot will be friends of friends, some will try to add you incase they know you, others will try to adding thinking if they are seen to have lots of friends then they're get more.
I personally only allow in people I 100% know0 -
But this happened before I added anyone to be my friend, like within the first couple of days of joining.0

At one point i had over 700 friends! I thought to myself, "This is ridiculous!!" I really only have one and she isn't even on Facebook. So i had a culling. Now i have family and a few aquaintances. Cheaper than texting.0

Don't know too much about it myself as I am new there too, but have you checked your privacy settings in your profile?

People can BROWSE for other people using various methods, people can even be searched for via the email they log in with!
Invariably you will get people you know, or know you.
OR
Someone who takes a 'fancy' to you

You can goto ACCOUNT SETTINGS and set it however you like. So that your profile is 'invisible' or only visible to people in your friends list etc.
Just beware of 'dodgy' looking messages. Theres been a spate of 'spyware' on facebook recently. Just keep your head on your shoulders.:idea:0 -
You'll get people adding you, like you can add them.
You don't want them- then just decline.0 -
Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.
I walk with the world & the world walks with me!I don't make bad choices!!! Other people just fail to see my GENIUS !!!!
