Halifax 10% reg saver withdrawl help

Hi people,
I opened up the Halifax 10% reg saver in June. Sadly the money I was putting aside for has come earlier than expected. I understand the consequences of withdrawing/closing the a/c early however I have no option but to do this. The help I need is to find out how to go about withdrawing the money. Am i able to turn up in a branch and withdraw the money then close the a/c while doing so, or do i have to close it in writing? Will they only give the money in cheque or will they give cash?
Any help you can give will be much appreciated, esp any others that have closed a regular saver with the Halifax before
Thanks in advanced

I've got one of these. You would have to go into Halifax and ask how to do it. I was told in the branch that in the case of default, the money would be transferred into another account which did not pay so much interest if the monthly payment did not come through for any reason.
I do not know your exact circumstances, but, if you are quick, you can reduce your monthly payment to a minimum of £25.
I would go into the branch, they might have a deal that would save most of your interest. In the field of investment, 99 per cent of everything is garbage. Why? Because we have "gearing". - Robert Beckman0 -
I can make the monthly payments, but I actually need the capital that is in the account at the moment. I didn't originally think I would need this money till August next year, which is why I was willing to lock it down for a year in the regular saver. However circumstances change and the money is required now. Im going to try to get to the branch tomorrow but can only make a lunch break so don't really want to queue for the whole time to find out its not possible.
Does anyone know if Halifax have a 24hr customer service number that I would be able to call. The only one I can find is open till 8pm today :-(0 -
I was able to ring up to cancel my 7% when they were doing the 10%.
The money would be transferred into the account you nominated when you opened the RS.

Just thought i'd post to let people know what happened.
I phoned this morning and they said that I would be able to withdraw at the branch. I queued at the branch during lunch hour and they said I can close the a/c and either come collect cash on Thursday or a cheque today. Considering I didn't have time to take another lunch break off i took the cheque. So all in all very quick and easy. Yes i have lost out on interest but I managed to get the money for what I needed it for, so no big loss really.
cheers for your help people
