A few months or even weeks ago we used to have some decent house price threads and discussions. There would be some sensible views from both sides and very few trolls. Either way at least there was some substance and anecdotal evidence.
Now tho these boards have turned into a farce. There are ridiculous views to the extreme of a sudden unexpected rise in house prices that will go on forever (albeit mainly from one person through a few aliases). There are also ridiculous views of houses costing nothing because house prices will become unrealisticall low. Obviously evidence shows HPs falling but both these extremes through a minority of people turn every discussion into a load of nonsense.
When will it all end?

I have to agree, the quality of what apparently passes for discussion here has really gone down the bog with unbelievable amount of trolling. I suspect its just 2 people with nothing better to do,
However, I fear for the raft of new users to MSE ( esp as martin has a new series, and the boards often attract loads of new users when he does this) Some people come on here genuinely worried about thier own economic circumstances and there seem to be 2 main responses
1) stupid trolling
2) really doomcrashers, shouting at new users who have not had the time to really absorb the sort of economic information that surrounds them.
There are many economic and banking ideas/practices that im not yet totally familiar with and would have had no way of knowing about- and is fantastic to be able to access some really great quality & informed postings from some users. It a shame that decent contributions are dredged in dross from trolls.
Put simply, dont feed the trolls, and we might, just might, get back to having useful discussions. You never know.:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
You should rename the thread
Boom, Boom, Boom, Bust, Bust, Bust, Crash, Crash, Crash
If people stick to facts & figures we can have serious discussion & peeople may keep their pants on.0 -

Then care to explain why 50% drops are not possible? The bears have put their (often valid) arguments forward numerous time. Why don't you try the same. It's not that hard. Or is it just "supply and demand innit"?? :rolleyes:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I am more worried about the mentalist Blisk than the obvious bullish types. By behaving like an idiot and overdoing the bear style to extremes it is undermining the truth - which is fairly self evident - that prices are set to continue falling.
I wonder if blisk is deliberately doing this for that very purpose. Quite a clever way of destroying any sensible argument and rendering the board fairly useless.
Both extremes, even if the posters are being genuine trolls, rather than fake trolls if you see what I mean, simply spoil the board. I wonder what sort of stupid pleasure anyone gets from this.0 -
Have you seen the graphs in post #1 of the Crash, Crash, Crash thread ?I am more worried about the mentalist Blisk than the obvious bullish types. Good Lord.
It's all just discussion and you pick what you want to discuss and what you don't. If there's nothing worth discussing then start your own thread.
Hardly rocket science is it?0 -

The main reason I could think is that 50% from now would not be possible is that it would be back to 1983 prices so most would be in NE who had purchased in the last 25 years and had not paid off thier mortgage.
Even from peak it would be 1988 prices so anyone who had purchased in the last 20 years.
That would be bye, bye every bank & business and job in the UK.
