Would-be buyers - beware the trolls on this board

I'm all for informed debate -but can anyone really argue that's what the trolls under discussion really provide?
If they can back up even one statement with something stronger than 'my neighbour's uncle said', then doozergirl's assertion might be fair.
As it is, their thread titles do nothing but mislead the unwary.
And personally, the joke - if that's what it is - wore thin a long time ago. As our country and the global economy face what many if not most commentators are calling the worst period since the 1930's, there is enough 'real' news to be discussing, to make time spent refuting blatant rubbish just that - an utter waste of time.
I'd love to hear that the economy was going to 'soar' - if this really is the case, please post hard facts, links etc, so we can all share in the good news.
Whilst I am enjoying house prices falling - hardly a secret, is it? - the spectre of global collapse, strangely, does not fill me with joy.
If the trolls named above - or other, more serious posters, such as doozergirl or HammersFan, or whoever, actually have some serious evidence to refute any claims I have posted, believe me, I would LOVE to hear them
But trollies - the joke just isn't funny any more. When millions are facing losing their jobs/savings/etc delete as appropriate, maybe - just maybe - it's time to grow up a little. :rolleyes:0 -

Partly agree but that is the purpose of forums - to offer advice. Also, banks (anonymous strangers) told FTB they could borrow 10x their salary and it would be fine. THAT got us into massive HPI in the first place.
PS - Carolt and yourself need to get it on. So much tension between the two of you.

I thought I was on your ignore list !!!!!! - you made such a song and dance of putting me on it that I'm surprised you're back reading my posts.
I've already discussed your "50% drops" on another thread, but just to reiterate - basically your 50% drops are all on new builds where the builders have made up their own price and then drastically cut it. This is exactly the same sales technique that the likes of MFI have where they have a 50% off 'SALE' all year long, except that one week where they double their prices.
I could put my house up for sale at £100m, drop it a week later to £1M and claim a price drop of 99% - what an absolute bargain!!!
You obviously don't have the smarts to see through this rather inelegant sales scam, !!!!!!. I suggest you stay away from anything in your inbox entitled "Nigerian Will contains $1BN. Please help me". :rotfl:Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

It's fine to ask for and to offer advice, but whoever asks for the advice is hardly going to spend £100k on a property just because horsesarseman says so. I suspect not much advice goes on within the Housing board, just a lot of opinion. I've received advice from the pensions boards regarding SIPPS, but used the information provided as the first steps in gaining further knowledge rather than taking it as gospel and acting on it. I would imagine most people are like this, especially where 10's of thousands of pounds are at stake?
P.S. There's no tension at all between myself and carolt.

The easiest way to get rid of trolls is to ignore the hourly threads they generate. Some people don't seem to be able to muster that restraint, and find themselves in pointless and unwinnable arguments. The bad news for the rest of the 'community' is that the top 10 threads are all tripe.

This forum is going down hill recently with all this finger pointing - no real need for it.
Lets not bicker about who did what and when. It can be entertaining on here most of the time - the bull / bear scuffle speaks for itself. Lets please keep it that way.0
