Right here goes
2 days ago my laptop and iphone connected fine to my wireless router (linksys WRT54G V7.04) It was the only wireless signal around my street...
now someone has got a wireless router in my street (ThomsonFA893A is what it comes up as and its secured) and now i can still connect to my wireless router but with limited connection (ie no internet)
no matter what i try (restarting/changing settings in my router etc and on laptop/iphone) i cannot connect to the internet (my pc is connected via ethernet hence how i'm typing on here)
It seems this thomson is causing ME problems and i don't understand why
Any ideas how i can defeat it?

If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

Can you change the channel in your router for the wireless to see if that helps?0
-
already tried made no difference......my router is fine as when the Thomson router is not showing everything works, its only when this router is showing
have changed channels (now on channel 5)
enabled mac address permits for my laptop and iphone
wep enabled
changed SSIDIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I had similar problem last week - after doing a microsoft update my pc told me I had limited or no connectivity - I quickly ascertained it wasn't a connection problem as the laptop had no problem at all
After spending the whole day trying various suggestions I eventually found a post that suggested flushing the DNS cache - I can't remember the exact link for it but just google it and I'm sure something will come up
I'm not saying this is the solution to your problem, but it may be0 -
affecting 2 devices (lappy and Iphone), got to be the router, either settings or its bricked.
can you try setting the ip address of either device manually, rather than relying on dhcp (which is turned on in the router!?)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
ok have flushed DNS (start cmd ipconfig /flushdns)
now on channel 13
router defo isn't bricked as my PS3 and PC worki fine with it via ethernet
and all settings ie ip address etc are entered manually on all devices connected to the router (and always have been)
still no joyIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
