Hi all,
I am taking my 5-months old twins from Heathrow to Tokyo in 2 weeks time (12 hour flight from T5). I read on BAA's website that you're only allowed to take 100ml liquid each. As it is a long flight, I want to take about a dozen cartons of Aptamil ready-made formula. There could also be a delay... If security asks me to open each one, they will not be sterile so what should I do? As there is no microwave facility to sterilise the bottles I am hesitant of taking milk powder.
Does anyone know whether Boots at T5 sells Aptamil? I tried calling them 3 times and they never answer the phone:mad: BAA's website says some Boots stock Cow & Gate, but I want to stick with Aptamil.
What are your thoughts on this? 12 hour flight, 2 babies, Aptamil only, no micorwave on flight, so many bottles to take.....any advice will be much appreciated

have you thought of taking disposable bottles? They come wrapped in cellophane so they are sterile when you take them out. Then you just throw them away. The airline will provide you with hot water to heat the bottle and water to make up the milk.0

if you make up feeds prior to travelling or put the milk out of those cartons into bottles they will make you taste it, just to prove there is nothing in there that shoudnt be.
in all honesty if you made up enough feeds for the flight the milk will be fine, i know after an hr you are suppose to dipose of it or chill it but this is a one off.0 -
I read on BAA's website that you're only allowed to take 100ml liquid each.Exceptions to the 100ml rule can be made for baby food or milk. However, you should only carry what you need for the flight, and you may be asked to taste these items at security control.

I took ready-made cartons, the small ones. Baby milk is exempt from the regulations. 6 x ready-made small cartons, one bottle made up ready to go (I was asked to taste this one) and the other empty bottles were straight from the steraliser and sealed up.
Apart from having to taste the milk in the bottle, the cartons were not questioned.0
