After managing to get rid of a virus, my computer is running very slow. In task manager it say's.
CPU usage 100%
Processes CPU 00 except for, svhost.exe and system.
I've looked at other threads but they don't seem to deal with my problem
Any help would be appreciated

"Svchost.exe" (Generic Host Process for Win32 Services) is an integral part of Windows OS. It cannot be stopped or restarted manually. It manages 32-bit DLLs and other services.
The svchost.exe file is located in the c:\windows\System32 folder. In other cases, svchost.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm!
Try running another AV appication on your PC then try some spyware removal software.2 heads are better than 1….unless they are on the same body!0 -
Hi Renee, is the busy process "svhost" or "svchost"? Could it be a virus running under a similar name to the legit process?0

It is svchost.exe0

it could be either, you should have 1 of those running. the best thing to do would be reboot your pc and check straight away what is running before connecting to internet, if you have broadband pull the cable out. if it still shows you as having 100% cpu and you have nothing running then you have a virius somewhere.
check which svchost is taking up your ram and cpu memory and then close that down, does everything still work?
i had this problem when running zone alarm, it wouldnt or couldnt get rid of some virius's, so i got panda antivirus trial, it got rid of all the things zonealarm couldnt, i then reinstalled zonealarm and everything is fine again.what is the plural of moose?

Thanks everyone. The virus gave me a red screen and took me ages to sort out with some help from an mse member.
When I ran spybot it gave me Smitfraud and coolwwwsearch as problems. It said it had cured them but when I ran spybot again, there they were!.
I downloaded stuff to get rid of smitfraud and because when I started up the computer the red screen had gone I thought I'd got rid of it all. Avg says I have no virus. Perhaps I need to download something for this coolsearch thing0 -
you need to run spybot in safe mode
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam
to clean it up
I also recommend this

let it clean everything when it asks, again you may need to run it in safe mode (after downloading it first !!)Ex forum ambassador

I have sygate firewall and it is blocking svchost.exe fron accessing the net. How do I know if this is a virus or I need it.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
