Can a tv be a pc monitor too?

I need a new monitor for my pc, and not being the most techie of people I thought I would ask some advice.
I would like to get a monitor if possible for my pc that would also double as a tv, as I want to have it in my bedroom. Is this possible? Is there one that will switch between the two. At the moment I have a very large tv which takes up a full corner of my small room. I also hope to get a virgin box installed in my room, so I want to be able to watch tv or go on the internet.
Hope that makes sense

yes you can I have a LCD TV (ONN from ASDA) I used it as a tv/PC monitor for over a year without much problems (there is a slight quality loss on the PC, but nothing too bad) 32" too!!!!
Although our small 15" ONN LCD tv which also has PC input just doesnt cut it as a monitor the quality is poor."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

As long as the tv has a PC input, then you can. But it wont be good on the 'eyes'!:idea:0

As aliEnRIK it will but LCD monitors and tv although may appear the same both built for different things.
You could always get a good LCD monitor and then add a TV card and have a really good picture and the add bonus of being able to use the computer as a digital pvr0 -
Thanks everyone! I am not sure why it will not be good for my eyes - is it because the screen will be different or due to the size everything will be?0

Monitors have a high number of pixels making up the screen , and are designed to be 'sharp' for reading the text
Tvs are designed to watch programmes etc, with less pixels in them (less sharp)
So reading text will be 'heavy on the eyes'
Similarly, monitors arnt very good for watching programmes or films (Particularly, 'dark' scenes):idea:0 -
Modern HDTVs at full HD are higher resolution (higher number of pixels) than most everyday computer monitors.
The real difference nowadays is that PC monitors have a higher refresh rate and lower response time than TV's. Meaning it might give you a headache or nausea if you're up close to it for any length of time.Russia is HERE0 -
dont need anything really special TV for it to work. Although easiest way is to have an s-video output on your graphic card. somewhere like maplins can supply a jack for this . I just combine this to a 3 channel wire (2 for the sound - one for the video ) which connects to a EURO.AV which goes into the TV (or could do but I just plug it into the back of the DVD player as its nearer)Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0
