Just noticed on Amason a 1.5m HDMI cable for 51p normally £14.99 not sure if it is of any use to anyone. The link is

  • Plus 4 quid P&P for each cable you buy, as it's not from amazon themselves.

Home Bargains does these (or maybe 2 meters - I don't remember) HDMI cables for £2.99. As an aside, they have regular A-B (aka printer) USB cables for 99p for a pack of three.

What is the best HDMI cable for a DVD Upscaler Dudes?

I don't want to sacrifice quality - but the choice of HDMI cables is huge. - I don't know if I need to spend £3 or £30.......

    Any advice appreciated.

Any HDMI cable will give the same quality as any other HDMI cable...... unless they are wired incorrectly, which is just as likely with expensive cables than cheap ones, as they're probably all made in random Chinese factories anyway. Digital cables will either work correctly or not at all, and if it doesn't work, just return it to where you bought it for a refund.

I bought one of these exact cables a month or so ago and the quality is absolutely perfect. The only thing I'd say beware of though is the company "AudioVisual Online" was called something else a month ago, and had a message on their website saying they were "changing to their sister company" and so orders on their website were temporarily suspended. The old company however had good feedback on Amazon Marketplace, so not sure why they changed.

Postage was around £3 for me a month ago with them...

The gold plating on HDMI cables do increase quality, but unless your looking for a superb quality one and paying £70+, The quality difference is negligable with the lower cost ones, so spend £5 on a gold plated one rather than 30.

A friend of mine is a huge xbox fan and spent a fortune on cables, and has advised me here.

Thats wrong I'm afraid and a myth perpetuated by the electrical retailers like Currys etc. Digital cables either work or don't work and aren't affected by gold plating or any other cost enhancing nonsense.
