Help! Poor credit rating = no credit card

in Credit cards
I was wondering if somebody could help me. I've got about £1500 on a credit card and put it this way over £15k on a loan - i really want to consolidate the whole lot as i am currently paying about £490 a month with Egg.
I always, always make payments on time, and have never had any ccj or anything - yet, i don't seem to be accepted by anybody - i have tried a few different cards & loan companies which have been suggested by this website.
I have only been in my current job for 6 months and have only lived in my rented accomodation for 1.5 years, so perhaps that makes a difference?
I'd be very grateful for any words of wisdom....

Hi,
You can get your credit rating for free as some of the threads on this site have indicated, I'm not techie enough or I would have sent you the links, but I also think that Martin has put it on one of his boards as well. Would be worth you have a look through, I'm sure it was on the mortgage boards. I will have a quick look see what I can see. I know they say that if you are applying for lots of different cards/loans then that has an impact on your rating as well!
Nothings ever simple!

Are you on the electoral register where you live ? If you are that will help your credit rating.
If you make to many applications for a credit in a short space of time this damages your credit rating.
On https://www.experian.co.uk I think you can get a free credit report ie have a look at your own file and see whats on there.0 -
