War Pension - Reassessment??

My Grandfather receives a War Pension, he's now gone into a residential home and his health has deteriorated over the last couple of years.
Would it be worth and is it possible to ask for a reassessment of his war pension?
We know very little about his war pension or how it works and just want to make sure he's getting everything he's entitled to.
Thanks

Hi,
Yes, you can ask the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency (tel 0800 169 2277) for a reassessment. He may be examined by a visiting Doctor or they may assess him based on his GP/Consultant reports,
However, just a word of warning though, if his deterioration is down to age, or other non service related conditions and not a worsening of his actual accepted condition they will not increase his War Pension. Also going back very many years (if he has had the war pension this long) War Pensioners were often given very good percentage disability awards, more so than are awarded today. Thus there maybe a very small chance his current percentage could actually be reduced if it is reviewed.
In order to try to reduce the possibility of this happening, it would be worthwhile contacting such as the Royal British Legion Benefits service who can assist with a reassessment claim and try as much as possible to negate any risk to his current award.
The British Legion can be contacted via Legionline 08457 725 725 (the service is available for non British Legion members as well as members)
