No, people will tell you their favourites! Mine's a Pace Twin. Ancient (the first I think) and no longer sold, but easiest to use apparantly. People will recommend Humax (9200?) and Topfield as brands, and there will be some with not that great software or remotes, or noisy fans etc. Most on the market are Twin Tuner these days. Best go to this website and have a read at the forums, where people argue about this kind of thing all day long!...

I had a good freeview box but decided to buy a Digihome PVR as well. The set-top box is now in the attic as I use the PVR all the time. At £50 it didn't cost much more than the set-top box and easily records programmes on the excellent 7day programme guide.

I have a dvd player plugged into the PVR and the PVR plugged into the tv. When the dvd player is switched on the tv shows the dvd player, otherwise it shows freeview - so simple.
My daughter has now bought the Digihome after seeing mine working and is really pleased with it. (Unfortunately it's so easy to work out that the hard drive is now full of Horrid Henry's and Power Rangers recorded by her 7yr old)

Standalone, Humax 9200T or Topfield 5800. If you've a Playstation 3, you can get the PlayTV add on.0
