On a mission to free myself of debt...

A largely NSD today, other than £25 on petrol which is a necessity. Given I was driving around on vapour, I thought it wise I bought some!
I am off to my Mum's for food tonight, so hopefully wont be spending much other than the petrol to get over there.
Had a short meeting at head office today, which was attended by two of the senior management of the company. They seemed genuinely impressed with my work and a project they gave to me, which should it be successful will give me brownie points with them!
Working over the weekend, meaning I should be largely free of spending, although there are rumours of a drink with a few friends of the weekend which could cost a bit. Won't cost me too much though as I will be retiring early - I have to be up early for work!Debt at LBM - £7992.46

Hi exerbusi,
Just checking in on you, you seem to have a handle on what you're doing. about the call from HSBC, make sure you get it in writing from them, that it is their fault & also check your credit report to make sure they haven't put a late payment notice on your report.I had a call today from HSBC wondering why I hadn't paid my CC bill - it was automated so it should have been paid! They admitted fault and have since put it right. I set up a standing order to pay £100 off my CC bill every month. Any extra money I have will be put towards that.
Your doing really well.

Good idea, Sparky! I had their word, but will get it done.
The job situation seems to be certain - I have had the word of the senior management team, it is just a question of when, not if now.
I must be stricter on myself though - these last three days I have spent out too much money. After I go out this weekend (if I do), it is back to a NSD all week other than shopping, petrol and a haircut (all of which are essentials, so not me frittering away cash).
I am not skint by any means - far from it really, but I have the mindst of someone who is really living in debt. I could make the minimum repayments and have plenty of money left over, but I want to over-pay debts, getting rid of them quicker.t
By tricking myself into thinking I am poorer than I really am, I start to believe it after a while, making me a real money-saver and hopefully, debt free ASAP!Debt at LBM - £7992.46

A NSD today, and a storecupboard lunch means I have had a nice cheap day! The meal I have cooked tonight will last a few days too, meaning I am supplied for a while!
I am working again tomorrow, meaning I will hopefully have another cheap day. Not looking to spend anything, so hopefully I will be back on the money saving line given my expenses this week!
Bank isn't looking too bad, plus I get my £300 in the account on the 31st of the month. Two weeks after that I am paid again, so all is looking good.
November will be a big month for me - I am going to be away for much of it, meaning my income will take a slight dip unless I get my new job in that month. I will have to really tighten my financial belt that month if I want to totally clear my overdraft.Debt at LBM - £7992.46

Well I didn't have a NSD today - £2.40 was spent. I have managed to snag myself £15 of overtime this week though, meaning I will be able to pay that off!
May have an expensive day tomorrow though - I bought a new bit of kit for my PC which I needed, and I will be buying a pair of astroturf fottball shoes as I have a game coming up. I intend to e-bay them when I am finished with them, which will be a way of getting some money back!Debt at LBM - £7992.46

Hi again, I've been away for a few days but you don't seem to have lost impetus!
Re: the astroturf boots - it seems a bit odd to me that you'd only ever get one astroturf game, so are you sure that selling the boots is a long-term money saver? (Not that I know anything about it ). Re: haircut, some people let hairdressing students practice on them for a reduced price cut. Depends how much you value your barnet, but I understand there is also an experienced person on hand to tidy up any mistakes!
You are doing famously, you must have a fridge full of money-saving enthusiasm judging by how you are getting your teeth into it! Oh, and talking of food, with colder weather forecast, plan for warming/filling
. Being hungry and/or cold doesn't help the resolve as well as not being good for you in general.
I'll get off my soap box for now, hope tomorrow goes well

Hi Miggy!
I have been a bit harsh on myself recently - my start of NSD's ended recently and I was disappointed that I lost some focus. I will seek to rectify this though, given I have an expensive week coming up next week. It is perhaps a bit short notice regarding the haircut thing if I go into a college now, so this time I will get it done in my local village!
With the Astrotruf game, I do actually have astro's, but they are at my folks house which is nearly 400 miles away! I can pick up a really cheap pair though, so am not overly bothered. I may even be able to borrow some from a friend, but I am not holding out much hope.
Other than haircut, I am aiming for a NSD today. I had my phone bill this morning and it is cheaper than usual, so my plan to use less calls has worked! The removal of the insurance helped quite a bit too!
Just got to remain focussed now, and get back to the mindset of thinking I am really skint. Last month I paid over £600 worth of debt back, so I must remember achievements like that. I have postponed an uneccessary trip to save petrol money, and I will remember to transfer my savings account money into my current account on Friday when it comes in. Will provide me with the required breathing space for a few days.
It is almost a full-time job being a money-saver, especially when your finances were as untidy as mine were just a couple of weeks back!Debt at LBM - £7992.46

I started this diary on 04/10/08. This was my official LBM. I had had many mini LBM's before, but I was not in the right 'space' to make anything happen with them - changes in job, changes in location etc meant my money was going to be all over the place. Once I finally moved, I got myself sorted out and decided to structure my finance. Despite the fact that I was a reader of the articles on this site, I had never actualyl posted in the forum.
I am less than a month in, and I have just had a quicke check of my bank balances. I started off with £8000 in debt, and as of now I am £6218.56 in debt.
I set myself a target of being bebt free within 18 months. I may change this depending on circumstances, but by this I mean I will shortern the term, not make it longer!
As of today, I am going to post my stats on my signature as added motivation for every month I chip away at the debt!Debt at LBM - £7992.46

My new signature - and a realisation I have removed 22.2% of my debt in 23 days!
The first month was a freak month, due to an unexpectedly-large pay-day, removal of uneccessary debts and a new over-payment scheme I developed. A (hopefully) upcoming promotion would really change the equation though, allowing me to keep over-paying.

Wow, wow, WOW! You've done a heck of a job accomplishing what you have in just 23 days! Well done you!! :T:T:T
If that isn't motivation for you, I don't know what is!
