Well my wages went in, and my bank balance is now a much healthier £900 in credit!

I have to do and re-do all of my sums, but I am hoping that this month I can all but totally remove my overdraft! I have reduced it too £400, but feel with careful spending I can remove it totally!

Due to my financial mis-management in the past I am slightly concerned I have missed something. I have all of my bills on automatic payment, and I think I have added everything that goes out of hte account up properly. I am £900 up so far, but I have outgoings to the tune of £1100 this month. Later in the month I have a £300 account maturing which I can add to my credit account, giving me a bit of breathing space and hopefully allowing me to remove my overdraft all-together next month. That would be an exciting time!

Today I have just picked up £15 for a 45 minute session in work, and I will be picking up another £15 at 12.30, before I actually start.

Hoping for another NSD today as I have food here to take with me. I think I will go shopping on Thursday night when it isn't so busy and can benefit from any last minute bargains!

  • OK, so I am now streamlined as much as possible I think, unless I was to reduce my car insurance down to 3rd party, and that isn't something I am keen to do right now.

    Phone insurance - gone.
    CC insurance - gone.
    CC interest - reduced.
Bank account - in credit (for now).
    All bills - automated.
    Lunch - taken from home.
Shopping - at night to score bargains!
Petrol - down to £10 or so per week.

    Anything else I can do?

    Morning all.

Shopping tonight, but it will be after work (around 8.30) so I will be able to hopefully pick up a few bargains. The budget is £10 again, so hopefully I can do well out of it!My meat supplies are running low, so I will have to be creative with my cooking soon, unless I can find some good quality cut-price meat.

Storecupboard lunch again, and charging laptop at work.

I have booked £55 worth of extra appointments this weekend, so income has taken a slight boost too. I have picked up £67 in overtime this week, all going towards my total!

A good month next month income-wise woudl see me totally wipe out my overdraft. Add that to the reduction in outgoings and I can start to hurl money at the devil that is my credit card! £150+ p/m there should really help it to be closed quite early!

It's going to be a good day!

  • Well a good today today - HSBC called me up and said they were reducing my CC interest to 4.9%. Now I have my credit card interest reduced, all of my bills automated and money to pay them I should be able to repair my credit rating, apply for a 0% balance transfer and clear my credit cards, hopefully to never be in debt again!

I have £16 worth of overtime in work tomorrow, and I will use that to shop within budget!

I'm guessing you have already discounted car sharing or it's impractical for some reason... you could get a bike? Someone I know just got a reasonable one for a very good price when the Police sold off those from their pound which were unclaimed for however long it is.

Have you thought of mystery shopping? I know you don't get much time but it might provide the occasional evening out.

Also - how about on-line surveys, Quidco, pigsback etc. There are links to various fund-raisers like this on this site (and if you go through the links marked on this site, it benefits the site, though there is always the option not to).

  • Hey Miggy! It's nice knowing you are checking in every now and then - helps keep me on track!

Another good day on the money front for me. I didn't have a NSD as I went shopping and treated myself to a coffee at work, but I had good reason...

I have been working really hard recently, and to be honest it has been at a lot of expense to myself - not financially, but physcially and socially. I haven't slept as much as I would need to, and I have barely been out! That is a good thing though - I am trying to save money!

Anyway, all of this work has been worth it. My boss mentioned a promotion a while back, and called me to see her today. We sat and chatted about work stuff, a course she had some of my staff on, and then she mentioned my promotion.

She outlined the job, told me my role and responsibilites and then told me the salary. The job comes with a £3,300 pay rise, and I am allowed to keep my own clients, meaning I can realistically add £100 or more per week to my salary. It also comes with an opportunity to network with very high-powered people in my industry, and work very close to the CEO of the company, a man who would be useful to impress as he knows the real power people and can open lots of doors for me!

I am working this weekend and have picked up about £16 of overtime today. Quiet weekend in this weekend, so a very cheap one.

Shopped today and food was within budget at £9.47. Hopefully it will last me the week!

Well I spent money today, and it feels odd!

A friend came up to visit, so we went out for lunch. I ended up spending about £8 (£1 was on a lottery ticket though - could be a £ weel spent!)

I have eaten my evening meal with storecupboard ingrediets, meaning that was a cheap one. Managed to bag a block-booking of clients too, so that will be worth about £75 to me!

In work quickly tomorrow, only there for an hour or so. Will use their power to charge my laptop, and then I am off home to relax. If I get my timing right, I will have a shower there too!

Got to make up for my £8 spending today!

Late update today - busy one!

I have had a NSD today and managed to nip in to work for a short while. Whilst there I bumped into a colleague with whom I have been working on a joint business venture. Could be a big success if we do it right!

I have run out of coffee now, and my hair is in pretty desperate need of a cut! These are expenses I can't avoid really (well the haircut is anyway). I will budget £12 for these activites.

I have managed to save £40 on an outgoing, which I will put towards petrol for a long journey I have to make soon. I also have just over £300 coming to me from a maturing savings account, so that is a nice boost before pay day!

Bank looking OK, but I have a few hundred quid on its way out soon!

Hopefully my pay rise will arrive before the end of the year, giving me a nice boost before Christmas and a springboard for the new year!

And don't worry about what you've spent - you kept it moderate and a few spends occassionally help keep your spirits up. Anyway isn't coffee an essential?:coffee:
